You don't need PayPal to donate. You can use your card through PayPal without signing up.

It's a rather difficult issue to determine a "legal" way of donating aside from credit cards and bank transfers. Doing it through paypal keeps Ender safe and allows him to maintain a "paper" trail incase something occurs tot he server.

I spent 15 minutes searching around and found something on PayPal about mobile payments, but I didn't really understand it or look into it enough.

Emanuel pointed out that another online game called Torn uses zong.com, so maybe I'll check that out.

Most online games use boku or similar, works really well but just be aware VAT (20% in england) and such goes on top of sms donations.

I'm comfortable with zong then because I'm comfortable with PayPal (despite the horror stories everyone's heard, I've had a good experience with them). My worry with this was that because of my lack of familiarity with the area I'd end up with some fly-by-night operation.
