TARNISHED is a label retroactively applied to a clan's win if it's later discovered that a significant portion of that clan's energy was gained through cheating.

1. The label is applied only to winning clans. Second, third, etc. place finishes are not eligible.
2. The label is applied if 20%+ of the clan's energy was gained by locked/reset bots.
3. A daily script continuously reevaluates all past wins to incorporate newly-locked/reset bots.

|                                        What are the penalties of TARNISHED?                                                |

There are none.

Ideally, cheating is detected and dealt with quickly, in which case there's no risk of a clan's win becoming TARNISHED. However, in cases where some cheaters are inevitably only discovered later, in order to not punish the legitimate players of the clan, trophies, trophy points, and the win itself are kept.

|                                                 Can I appeal TARNISHED?                                                    |

Yes, there is one scenario in which you can appeal. If a bot changes owners (e.g. gets sold) and gets locked/reset, and if this results in a pre-ownership change clan result being labeled TARNISHED, then you can appeal the label.

To do this, create a new thread in the Clans subforum with a title that starts with "TARNISHED appeal". Please include all relevant details (affected clan, affected month(s), involved bot(s), and proof/date of sale). Ender will review and reply with a decision.
