How do I go about equipping a weapon in my stash and selling the current weapon without buying a new weapon. The windows say "planning to equip" and "planning to sell" respectively.

Gotta do it in two steps:

1. Replace the equipped weapon with the stashed weapon.
2. Sell the formerly equipped (now stashed) weapon.
