any reason the colour thingy in the workshop can't go down to 1? I'm not as purple as I'd like to be.

If it were 000000, you couldn't see the word. So, you can't "hide".

It's not just #000000. Here's what your name is like as #111111 for example:

To prevent situations like that, the lowest you can take any of the red, green, or blue values is 0x44.

0000FF, 00FF00, FF0000 are perfectly valid colour codes though, but instead we have to settle for ugly smudgy colours :)

Can't you check whether it's higher than 444444 *on average*?

(this has the lowest possible priority though)

Yea this is pretty minor, but I bet it will bother a lot of people.

There indeed probably is a better way of calculating what's visible against a dark background and what isn't, so I'll look into that at some point.

i personally think that an (R,G,B) color scale would be better for the users of the site to choose a color and dont allow them to adjust brightness lower than a certain level. which would keep them from having absolute black as a color.

something like this with a restricted brightness slider would work great!

^ Yes!

What Ender could do is make sure your color adds up to at least 100. Which means 33 in each one. Which is pretty dark, but still lets people do 255,0,0 for bright red, etc.
