C'mon bro, even floR changed my name from DarkNinjaMAster to DarkNinjaMaster, I didn't even need to donate.

Mail Ender on his bot, or hit up ed mazur on facebook.

It never hurts to ask. I just remember seeing the reply he posted to someone asking the same question. It's just below this post titled reset.

shit, I just read more of the forum and there is this:

http://bots4.net/forum/1/4212

are name changes unavailable because it's not possible or because admin doesn't want all his time taken up with stupid name fixing requests?

try and start up a conversation with Ender, not via the forum.

That's something you're going to have to ask him. I'm not sure how it works.

I don't see him changing his mind about this.

There's a few reasons why you can't change your username:

  • No name changes has been the policy for a long time now. Many have asked, none have received. To be a fair admin, I have to apply the rules consistently and not make exceptions. This has meant shooting down similar minor name change requests from players that have donated significant amounts of money.
  • As for the policy, I feel that usernames should be a permanent marker of a bot's identity. If you do something and become known throughout the community for it, you shouldn't be able to run away from that with a name change. There's some value in knowing that "sakaujada" has always been "sakaujada" and always will be "sakaujada".
  • As for not allowing minor name changes like the one requested by OP, that is a question of where to draw the line. Do you allow one character to be changed? What if it's a small two-character change? How about swapping the order of two words? I don't want to have to decide on these and then have precedents pointed out where I contradict myself in gray areas, so I went with the simple policy of no name changes.

In general, this is not correct. I'd rather a forum thread be started for things like this. I read every thread in forum sections like questions, suggestions, and bugs, so I am guaranteed to see your post if you ask there. This is better for a few reasons:

  • Other people might be able to answer. That's what happened here.
  • Other people can benefit from your question and my answer if it's in public.

or hit up ed mazur on facebook

And please don't do that, barring the game being completely down for everyone or something. :) If it's private, just send me a bmail and I'll get to it when I login. I won't login on bots because you FB message me. I try to login every night after work, so I will see your bmail then.

Triple post ftw?
