ProjectAlpha [76] |
maybe around 1500 |

So you think that Ed has made $15000 off this game? If I made that much off of a game, I'd surely update it more. |
There was a thread some time ago with his income from the game that he had to claim on last years tax return, something over $4K I believe. |
4k can't support a family, but is a decent chunk of change for something amusing to do |
Well, I just did a count of the stars on the top 20 All star list. ~330 in existence and with the top 20 added up, its over 840... |

Are stars subject to sales tax? Since it's considered a donation, I'm guessing no. |
Jans, even if its a donation pay pal still takes a bit of it for using their service. |
Technically a donation, but you still have to pay taxes on it in the end because it's over like 5grand? Something like that.. |
Income tax surely, but i was wondering about sales tax. And ofc paypal charges a fee for the transaction. 3% or so. Fuckers, it's bullshit they're charging a percentage, on top of a fixed fee. It's the same service they provide, whether the amount is $10, $100 or $10000. |

I don't think they're subject to sales tax, but not for the reason suggested. In fact, I don't think they're considered donations, legally. That's just what I call them here. It's more like the sale of a virtual good. If it was a donation I don't think I would have to pay income tax? IANAL of course. Anyway, I poked around for a couple minutes and it sounds like in order to have to pay sales tax, the business needs to have a "taxable presence" in that state (how this is defined varies from state to state). That's why when you order online goods from a business in another state, you usually don't have to pay sales tax. I think those laws are in the process of changing because of companies like Amazon, but that's about as much as I know. PayPal's cut is more around 5%, by the way. I have/had one of their preferred rates too for doing a certain amount of volume per month. |
