I am focusing on mostly a balance between str and dex and putting points in Con when i feel i need them.

This is my build currently:

Level 42 legend blades (x2) (Load)

I am looking to upgrade to Golden Rods soon unless i get strong advice otherwise from you guys.

Well, your current build is perfectly fine. I'd suggest golden rods or darkling blades as your next upgrade. Actually death daggers would probably be good too. These would be the normal fighting builds for you without using any stars or freaking:

For golden rods just -2 str and -3 dex from the first build.

True!! although frozen blades are easy to build to level 41???
