Stuff like "your The Snappers is trashed.." has always bothered me. |
|
That's why we buy new stuff before it trashes ... :D |
|
echo "Your {$item->name} " . (substr($item->name, -1, 1) == "s" ? "are" : "is") . " trashed and cannot be repaired any further"; Could work :P |

Only with some exceptions :D Same applies to plural items which don't end with "s" ^^ |
|
maybe it's easier to use a bit variable |
|
Hey guess what equipment is trashed and cannot be repaired any further? Your Thorn Spiked Gloves! LOL! That'd always work. |

gloves/boots = are, helm/armor/shield/weapon = is. Solved* |

+1 for thinking outside the box and suggesting to just restructure the sentence. I'd read this at work and had been thinking of ways of dealing with the possible exceptions that might arise from simply checking the last character for "s", whether each item would have to have a flag for its plurality if that didn't work, etc. Over-engineering ftl. Anyway, this is fixed now. |

"Aw snap, your Behemoth Gloves cannot be repaired any further!" Looking okey for me :) |

Thanks wiggin :) & although your use of cannot instead of can not slightly irks me I get past it by reading it in a Joy Turner accent ;) |

You have to remember the yanks have taken over Bots ;) This also sounds better with her voice in mind: |

Would you prefer can't? |

Actually, "could not" would fit better, wouldn't it? |
BadAss [98] |
No because it tries to repair it each time. Not a one time deal and it remembers to not repair it anymore. Can't is present, so it shows that it needs to be repair now. -Alan |

This is completely incorrect, so yeah. The "repairs" comes after the battle has already ended, thus making the repairs at the end which results in it being past perfect tense. Go look that up then come back in here and post. |
