Suffering is a relative term.

Most likely a daylight savings time issue. The game thinks we haven't filled a captcha for over an hour so it keeps redirecting us to fill a new one. So who's calling Ender? :)

i'm having an issue with the captcha. When i input the correct answer, it brings me back to the captcha page. When i enter it incorrectly, it brings me back to the captcha page with a try again msg.

i've tried doing it both on firefox and chrome, neither browser seems to be able to bypass the captcha

I'm still certain due to the fact it is labeled Daylight Saving Time, then the issue would still be a "daylight saving" one.

then again, it does happen two times a year and would as such had caused problems two times if Ender hasn't made proper arrangements to counter it.

I don't see how it would cause a problem in the spring, just an hour would be skipped instead of repeated.

Perhaps he can figure out a way to remove the DST setting and have his server run on UCT time. That way there is no fuss over DST at all.

Yes I think UTC is the solution. Ideally I'd have done this from the beginning as it would now be difficult to change.

I did every captcha for the past 3 or so minutes thinking I was just doing it wrong but some were like really easy lol so there's no way I missed those!

Hey Ender, just thought I should let you know that I found a pretty nasty bug when the captcha thing happened.

Basically I made a new troll bot since I was trapped in the captcha thing, but when I made the new bot, I could literally train/fight over and over again at 'lightspeed' without having to wait for the battle 'timer'.

I got to level 20~ in like literally 1 minute doing that, and it kept happening until I got a captcha and got stuck there aswell. Its just a troll bot though so Im not really using it anymore and this isnt happening now of course, but thought you should now that this bug could be happening at other scenarios or something.

That bug would be very useful specially for the levelers whose fights are very long :)

Without digging into it, I'm not sure what would have caused the fast-leveling bug. DST wreaks all sorts of havoc on this game because the code has a lot of assumptions that time only moves forward, but it doesn't use UTC which would provide a constant frame of reference that's immune to DST.

So until I get around to converting everything to UTC, you can pretty much consider it this weird annual one-hour twilight zone where strange things happen. It might help you, or it might be benign, but it will probably hurt you (nothing permanent of course).

Right, DST happens twice a year, but only one of them involves the time on the clock going backwards, which is what causes problems for the game. Skipping an hour is fine. It also doesn't matter where you're from, what matters is the time zone the server is using.
