Most numbers in this thread are negotiable.

Suggestion #1:

Right now when you sell an item, you get half of its value back, independent of the durability left on it. I think the money you get should be based on the durability, maybe limit it to be between 10% and 90%. Example #1: You'd sell a Blood Sword (10,000 kudos) with 100% durability for 9,000 kudos. Example #2: You'd sell a Blood Sword (10,000 kudos) with 0% durability for 1,000 kudos. Example #3: You'd sell a Blood Sword (10,000 kudos) with 32% durability for 3,200 kudos. Example #4: You'd sell a Blood Sword (10,000 kudos) with 59% durability for 5,900 kudos.

Suggestion #2:

Right now an item you sell simply just stops existing. I think it should be sent to some kind of junkyard (for maybe a week or so?), and you'd also be able to buy used items from the junkyard. There's a catch though, you can't browse the junkyard like the showroom. You have to pay the owner of the junkyard some money and ask him to go look for a certain item, if there is one or more of that item, he might return with one of them (look at the examples), but if he doesn't find anything, then it sucks to be you, because you're not getting your money back! Examples: There are 4 items in the junkyard (4 Blood Swords from the examples in the previous suggestion). Example #1: You ask the junkyard owner for a Total Annihilator and give him 5,000,000 kudos. There's a 0% probability he'll return with what you asked for. Example #2: You ask the junkyard owner for a Blood Sword and give him 5,900 kudos. There's a 50% probability he'll return with the 59% durability Blood Sword, a 46.09375% probability he'll return with the 32% durability Blood Sword, (a 0% probability he'll return with the 0% durability Blood Sword, since it's completely trashed) and a 3.90625% probability he'll return with nothing at all. Example #3: You ask the junkyard owner for a Blood Sword and give him 3,200 kudos. There's a 50% probability he'll return with the 32% durability Blood Sword, and a 50% probability he'll return with nothing at all. Explaining the numbers: If you pay the exact value of an item, there's a 50% probability you'll get it, for every % you pay over the value, the probability increases with .5%, hence if you pay twice the value, there's a 75% probability you'll get it. If you fail to get the best item your money could get you, the next best item (if there is one of course) is rolled using the same formula.

Discuss.

Transferring items between bots FTW.

Yes, I've thought about this. If this is a big deal, there are at least 2 ways to make it harder.

Cap the probability of the junkyard owner finding an item at 90% or something. If you're willing to transfer a 50% durability item for almost 150% of the original cost and with a 90% probability of success, go ahead.

Also, the time it takes for the item to arrive to the junkyard after you sell it could be randomized between 0 and 6 hours.

I don't think either of these suggestions really makes enough difference on gameplay to justify the coding needed imo.

If it means using my one-day ordering on any bot I want, an extremely small price to pay. Kudos mean shit, the opportunity to actually buy the item you want is the actual problem. With this system, one would no longer have to move ten stars to one bot for five days (timelock) just to get one item.

Plus, while camping on my trainer, I'd buy any rares to "transfer" in case I need them on other bots in the future. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to use this feature, but that often means it isn't good for the game.

Yes @ suggestion 1. One shouldn't get 50% in return for a trashed piece of equipment.

Not sure @ suggestion 2. I like how it's thought & worked out, but like neps, not sure how it will affect the game, since kudos are so easy to get..

Suggestion 1 is actually a good way to get rid of some of the kudos in the Bots economy.

The first suggestion isn't anything new; the issue of sell price has come up before in both bots4 and bots2. Nonetheless, the concept of a 'realistic' sell price is something I like the idea of.

As for the Junkyard, add it to the list of suggestions that sound great but are entirely unnecessary (At this point in time). Don't let me stop you discussing the trivial nuances though.

I'm not against the first idea, but still once again confused at it being suggested/supported.

As for the second, I'm hesitant about (but not completely against) adding new ways of acquiring equipment.

The people want what the people want. I do believe most people support this as it kinda makes sense that when something is broken you shouldn't get 100% of your money back for selling it.

I seriously doubt this would replace neither camping or ordering. It'd be mostly used as a last resort for impatient people, or by people who just like to gamble.

Stopping people from using this to transfer items between their own bots is trivial and could be done in many different ways.

And even if this ends up being used by just a handful of people, I still think it'd be a success, because it adds another dimension to the game.

I don't think the junkyard is a good idea because it will make camping too easy. You can just have to camp and stash items with a high lvl kudo bot. Then sell the item to the junkyard when you need it on another bot.

So how do you suggest we stop:

  • transferring items between your own bots (camping or ordering on one bot)
  • transferring items from a friend (camping or ordering on one bot)

When you sell an item, it gets put in a "pending junkyard" with a random number between X and Y.

Every day at a specific (or random) time, a number between A and B is rolled, and every item in the pending junkyard with a number higher than the one that was rolled gets sent to the real junkyard.

This means that you have no way of knowing if the item you're trying to send is in the junkyard or not. And if you believe that it is, and you try to buy it and don't get anything, you can't know if it's because it's not in the junkyard, or because you were just unlucky.

And even if you do get the item you want, it might not be the one you "sent", it could just as well be one with only 4% durability left.
