Having bought exp buff instead of speed, my own stupidity and I'll accept full responsibility for that but it would be nice if you had a minute or two to be able to rebuy a different type of buff so those little mistakes wouldn't waste a day of training/attacking/kudos..ing? ;)

Limit would also be one a day to avoid abuse and you wouldn't be able to buy a buff of the same time, i.e. if you accidentally buy EXP as I did you could not rebuy a different exp buff.

You would also only get as many battles on your new buff as you did on the accidentally bought buff to avoid abuse, and obviously the first buff would be cancelled.

And the time limit for rebuying would be really short, say 1-2 minutes at the most. I think it took me 2 fights to realise, so about 20 seconds max.

You could also have a counter for rebuys used so you can keep a track on who the most retarded people are >:D

Thoughts?

This seems like overkill for what's ultimately a mistake. The same logic could be applied to other "irreversible" actions like mistakenly spending stat points, mistakenly selling stash items, etc. and I don't think any single one of those actions is more worthy of undo than another.

That being said, I've been toying around with the idea of loosening the restrictions on buff purchases. I don't have any data to back this up, but the impression I get is that in general for people, (trophy points earned) >> (trophy points spent), meaning the "sink" for this resource isn't quite large enough.

I could fix this by charging more for buffs, but I think that would just piss players off. I'm currently thinking of something like increasing the number of buffs that can be bought daily, but having the prices for additional buffs rise sharply as the tradeoff.

I could live with that.

Maybe a confirmation? "would you like to purchase this buff? y/n" if this is a hassle on a large scale (which i doubt)

Well redis points were originally intended in case of a mistake which is why there was no restrictions on them, however people were using them for other purposes so the cap of 35 was implemented. At the end of the day I play one bot at a time so buff-wise it would make a massive difference to me.

Something being so final does take some of the fun aspect of the game away and when a game starts to become a daily chore interest will be lost.

If we are all for an accessible fun to play game then certain restrictions can be loosened surely.

I do like the idea of being able to purchase extra, more expensive buffs but this is unlikely to be something I would use on a regular basis as I want my trophy points to last as long as possible.

Perhaps a buff cooldown rebuy feature could be available exclusively for bots with at least one plat.

I think that would be a step backwards from the very good direction that the one-buff/day policy represented. If you did that, it would once again tip the balance in favour of those with disproportionately large amounts of trophy points.

the impression I get is that in general for people, (trophy points earned) >> (trophy points spent), meaning the "sink" for this resource isn't quite large enough.

If I could afford it, I would buy one Tier III buff a day, which would cost me 3,000 TP a month. However, since I can't afford to do that without running out very fast, I stick to lower Tier buffs. What I'm trying to say is that people will "save" TP in order not to run out. Some people would fail the marshmallow test and go for III, and maybe they can afford to. But there will always be those who "hoard" TPs, saving them up to avoid running out. I don't think this is behaviour that should be punished either. I think the option to either:

A. Go full blast and run out eventually, or
B. Keep your TP usage within sustainable levels

is a very good aspect of the current system. I don't think "forcing" people to run out of TP is good, as it rewards massive donators only (the only practical "unlimited" source of TP at the moment).

This is true, I only use 200% buffs because 250% isnt sustainable.

On the flip side - Really the way to solve the problem of people having too much TP would be to have the star plat only awarding TP once so crazy donors wouldnt have such an advantage and managing TP would become a very important part of playing the game long term.

This isnt a very good business model though ;)

the only reason I suggested the buff cooldown rebuy is because for most people there are very few repeatable trophies and at the moment playing one bot longterm is punished as many trophies, if missed require a reset which nullifies the chances of very many levelling bots that are not donators.

Doubt Ender would approve that, and even though it puts "non-crazy donator" players like me and the majority of the playerbase at a more even playing field, I am all for motivating donation. Every donation helps Ender, and what helps Ender helps the game, and I'm all for that. I think taking that away is a bit too much. I think the system at the moment is pretty balanced, gives you a reason to donate more, but doesn't allow you to own the competition with sheer $$$.

Yeah, the dedication needed to be the best is evident - with or without donations you still have to put the time and effort in.

I really don't know how I feel about a 2nd buff now having thought it through today at work. On one hand it would assist donations for those that burn through their TP quicktime and it would also help people with limited time that can maybe only play at weekends, having 4 buffs over 2 days instead of one buff a day would mean they could keep up with the competition more.

On the other hand, people who really put the time and effort in and can also afford donations would really excel, although that said it would only really be the level race this would be evident in.

I still stand by my rebuy option as it wouldn't penalise anyone or give anyone an advantage and it would aid those of us that try to buy buffs on phones and such who can easily misclick ;p If I'm in the minority though then whatever, suggestions are just suggestions!

I don't think anything needs to be changed. In a few months when people use all their points, you will only get points from monthly/new trophies.
