The minimum intelligence was recently dropped from 5 to 1 for those that feel that they were levelling to quickly. This of course, penalises those that just wants to have a bot as 'successful' (i.e. in terms of wins) as possible and INT is semi-useless in a battle.

I have two ever-so-humble suggestions:

  1. Is there a way of bringing in INT during fighting to reward bots with intelligence? I could argue that an intelligent bot will know how better how to use its strength and dexterity? ...or maybe that an intelligent bot knows how to handle the weapons better, and thus, increasing the damage factor thereof.
  2. Maybe increase the % of the intelligent buffs, so compensate for the decrease in minimum intelligence.

Just an idea...

I'm sorry to "shoot you down" again like this, it's nothing personal or anything.

Maybe increase the % of the intelligent buffs, so compensate for the decrease in minimum intelligence.

You aren't forced to wear -INT armors. If you want to level, don't wear -INT armors.

Is there a way of bringing in INT during fighting to reward bots with intelligence?

That's like asking if there's a way that CON could increase damage, as to reward bots with CON, or that STR could increase block, as to compensate STR bots. All those stats have their jobs. The more INT you have, the weaker your bot will be. That's the way it is, you can't have the best of both worlds.

INT already has a minor contribution to fights, in the form of determining who makes the first attack.

The way I read your suggestion, you want to be strong AND still level fast. You can't have everything, choose one.

Just posted a huge reply and lost it since I got logged out :-(

Anyway, the crux was that all the stats should remain doing what they do, but that int should simply add a modifier to the weapon's damage as the bot has better technique and the ability to adapt better in a fight.

This is the same a smarter boxer that can change technique according to the opponent and spot weaknesses easier.

So, in essence:

MODIFIER = 2^(INT/K)

Such that for K=100: INT=0, Modifier=1
INT=10, Modifier=1.07
INT=50, Modifier=1.42
INT=100, Modifier=2

K would of course determine the severity of the effect. I don't really see why this is such a stupid idea... it makes sense to me. However, I've only been playing for 2 months, so I guess my ideas can't carry that much weight.

However, this added complexity would make the game more interesting and challenging. (Really, after 2 months, even I can build a strong bot with very little experimentation.)

Thanks... and please have an open mind.

I see a valid point thete Wumpus, but Neps is right in that if you made Int have more of an impact on winning fights every man and his dog would have level 300 + scoring bots. It would just make the game to easy.

Int is the determinate for who hits first. I am curious about this new system being beneficial to leveling so I'm sorta hoping the min int goes back to 5. :\

Do you realize that with your "K":

A level 110 225-95-72-74 answerers with Que-Hegans (only thing freaked) Thorn Spiked Helm, Dragons Claw and Infernostride would deal 687.5 - 1375 damage? This thing would have 900 total HP and 62.28% absorb.

Now, an exact STR mega maul bot would deal:

347.2 - 1128.4

So, you want the first bot to not only level 10,000% faster, you want it to have a higher damage too?

K was an example, it's a constant... it will probably have to be much higher to avoid this kind of thing.

Actually, I think you're taking the stat "Intelligence" too literally. It's just a name for a stat. It's a stat that is next to useless in battles, but useful for levelling. Thus, people need to pick a balance. The more you put in INT, the less you have in STR/DEX/CON, and thus the weaker you are in battle.

People can choose to be levellers, or people can choose to be "decent" strong bots with INT, or people can go min CON and high INT for a trainer that isn't expected to win battles but levels like a pro. It's your choice. What you want is you want the best of everything. You can't have your cake and eat it.

Making INT affect damage is akin to making STR influence block, or making DEX increase HP. It doesn't make sense. There's already a stat for that.

This of course, penalises those that just wants to have a bot as 'successful' (i.e. in terms of wins) as possible

Actually, people were clamoring for that. I see no problem in that right now. Who says you are owed stats? Who says 10 minus 9 should be 5? If you want to level, don't put on too many -INT armors. No one is forcing you to wear them anyway.
