How about a buff that decreases your equipment damage? A "Stonewall" sort of buff?

Or a buff that increases your attack rating?

Or a buff that increases you defense rating?

Thoughts?

Buffs are cool and all - and i like the suggestions - but if buffs are going to mess with a bot's strength, there should be more to them than just upsides.

The current buffs only influence what happens after a fight, not the fight itself (more xp, more kudos, more energy).

A new line of buffs that make a bot stronger, should be more balanced. Like some unique armors, they could have a distinct downside next to the bonus they provide. Making it more of a challenge whether or not you want to use them, and not upsetting the playing field too much. For instance, a buff that increases your absorb, should lower your dex.

What about the speed buff?

But ok, itΒ΄s true it might cause some balancing problems.

  • A buff that decreses equipment damage also lowers your absorb by a couple of percent.
  • A buff that increses your absorb also lowers your defense rating.
  • A buff that increses your block also lowers your damage.

I don't think buffs that affect a battle are worth it. If you're going to give a buff and then make it be "balanced", why give that buff in the first place?

It will only be useful if it gives you an advantage, and then it's unfair to your victim.

Not sure if trolling or stupid, but obviously, as with most unique armors, the plus should outweigh the minus.

The point I was trying to make is that anything that improves your chance in combat makes it unfair to the other person, and if you made it "fair", the buff wouldn't be worth buying

Do you consider unique armors to be unfair? (rhetorical question)

As long as it's available to all, it's fair. And like uniques, this kind of buffs would bring a new element to the game. Something to consider when creating builds.

Fishwick is trying to say it's unfair cause a bot defending an attack will not have a buff active. The attacker will be logged on with the buff active, whilst the defender will be off with just his standard build

As pointed out by others, buffs that affect battle outcome are a little dicey because they're without precedent at this point. Not sure if it's something I'm looking to get into just yet.
