Long botmails, forum posts etc are easily lost if you accidentally close the tab or click a link. Something like an alert asking if you are sure you want to navigate away might be good, sort of like stackoverflow does.

Maybe toggle-able if some people don't like the idea

I'd rather just have it remember what you wrote so that when you go back it's still there.

This is a pretty standard feature on websites with input forms and wouldn't be difficult to implement. Please ping this thread in a few weeks if I haven't gotten around to adding this.
