Wouldn't it be nicer if your PMs very sorted the other way around, so you wouldn't have to scroll down months or years of old messages to read the new one?

Any sort of sorting in the post office would be most welcome.

I'd like the following abilities:
- deletion of messages
- flagging special messages
- sort by sender
- sort by date
- block sender

He is talking about the actual PM's not the overview list of the post office

ooh.. the conversation itself? Well, that's the same as the forum really.. You want to read them top-down..

If you're really chatty - start a new conversation :P

Aside from replies that are to days/weeks old messages, you typically know the conversation already, so this suggestion is actually a good one.

Regarding OP's suggestion of putting newest message on top, I think newest message at the bottom is a pretty standard UX convention (see: email, IM, etc.) that I'd rather not break. There are other solutions to the problem you have (scrolling through long page of messages) that don't involve breaking that convention: You could press the "end" key on your keyboard, or I could add pagination or an option to jump to first new message.

Regarding other general post office suggestions in this thread, yes, things like deleting, filtering, blocking, starring, and various other goodies will all come in time.

Makes sense :P Get them added quickly, Jump to page: 1 2 3 4 5 ... 70 71 72 73 74 Lots of messages need deleting ^_^

I have not used an email client where the message you were to read was at the bottom for a long time. Why would you want to fead the first message of a 3 months old conversation?

I know the end button is just one click but it is one unessecary click imo...

What email client do you use? GMail doesn't do that and it's pretty widely used.

Just to reiterate, the problem is getting to the bottom. Reversing the order is just one solution (a bad one, in my opinion). Better solutions include the things I mentioned before, and another I just thought of, GMail's expandable "accordion" for previously-read messages.

Well it is your call =)

I like the accordion idea btw

I'm on my phone atm & this suggestion would indeed make things easier.

A reverse view of the forum would also be most welcome. Scrolling down the long threads takes an eternity!

PM's are another thing, because it's a conversation between just two people - but there's no forum on the internet where the most recent comments are listed first..

Sometimes 'comments' on blogs or youtube videos are shown new-to-old. But that's because they usually respond just to the article or video. It's not a conversation. And when people do reply to other comments, they can be shown nested.

hey just because there is no precedent doesn't mean the suggestion should immediately be discounted.

I was simply thinking of a workshop check box just like the reverse showroom order one.

Alternatively if someone can tell me how to jump to the bottom of a thread on an iphone, i'd accept that ;)

so i made an extension for this and put it in the google web store, under the name "BOTS4 Reverse order of messages". It should be public, have no idea when it's accessable, but if you find it, let me know if something isn't working.

also if you want to see the code - heres a jsfiddle

I installed it through Chrome Web Store and it doesn't work. My Version is 38.0.2125.104 m

It also made the other extensions not to work. I installed tampermonkey and re-installed all of them but some continue not to work :(

Ill take a look at it when i get home. It's probably the manifest-file acting up. Anyone having any experience making .js extensions on google web store and know what to put in the manifest-file?
