suggestions

I am not sure if/where this may have been suggested before but I figure it is worth mentioning/bringing up again.

Enders goal with MC was to try and bridge the gap between new and established clans, while also increasing the competition at the end of a month. The biggest barrier between these two types of clans is their access to dumpers, which have essentially permanent use of fight speed + energy buffs. Adding a multiplier to energy gain actually provides these established clans with a bigger benefit than newer competitors as dumpers will get the additional multiplier of fight speed on top of more energy gains. Additionally MC doesn't actually "feel" like it is building up during the month, as the only effect is multiplying the amount of energy you gain from a fight.

This is why I suggest changing MC to a non-stackable fight speed buff. Not only will this bridge the gap between clans with dumpers vs those without, while still allowing established clans to get more benefit from their dumpers earlier in the month where MC offers less value than a traditional fight speed buff, players will also "feel" the crescendo building, as fight speed is overtly noticeable within combat.

The main point being established clans aren't able to double dip on an additional energy gain multiplier and fight speed simultaneously, this lessens the gap between established clans and newer clans as a month progresses, while dumpers still have a benefit over the competition but are more useful at the beginning of the month (still probably faster overall).

Furthermore fight speed is beneficial for all types of play, except some niche onlining situations. This buff would then be useful for energy bots, leveling bots, kudos bots, building bots in general, etc. Which I can see having a positive impact in overall engagement throughout all aspects of the game.

Negative.

It's also worth restating the goal of the MC buff. Its primary function is to keep the clan competition relevant throughout the month, i.e. reduce the possibility of the race feeling "over" mid-month (it's not a goal for the buff to help "new clans" win, so the "established clans dominate the game" topic is separate)

The current way it is implement achieves the opposite. It allows established clans to make use of an additional multiplier on top their already multiplied energy gains through the use of dumpers with energy + speed. The race is over as soon as a clan with those resources chooses to use them at the end of the month as they will gain (250% energy + 250% energy) * 250% fight speed in an ideal scenario, instead of the previous 250% energy * 250% fight speed.

If Ender wants to make the ends of the month more competitive he needs to lessen the divide between new and established not multiply it. Making Crescendo into a non-stackable fight speed multiplier will bridge the gap as the month progresses leading to more competition not less, besides the other obvious benefits this grants other forms of play.

But fair point. I missed that part. Maybe he just fundamentally misunderstands the way the buff functions in practice?

I was on board with removing crescendo for the reason it heavily favors dumpers up until last month when i went on 3 low levels without speed and got 1.2mil done in 12 hours. I dont wanna be lazy and say people need to click more links but that was apparently the issue.

Pushing a speed buff attached to it if you want to double down is fine but it should be stackable. Low level bots gain more from stackable speed than dumpers due to fight lengths the low levels will save more time overall than dumpers but only by a second or too the same same issue remains that people need to click more links.

The problem isnโ€™t necessarily that dumpers are too strong, itโ€™s that to compete with them as a new player you need to use multiple scorers. That sounds like a solution but in a clan with more than 3-4 active players the energy is essentially wasted since only the top 10 slots count.

The reason I suggest making the buff non-stackable is because protected dumpers are able to maximise their use of the stackable energy/speed buffs. It doesnโ€™t tighten the race at the end of the month if you empower these kinds of bots, as they can sit there accumulating energy all month and dump it twice as fast. Instead if you empower traditional scoring throughout the month, the players that donโ€™t have access to protected energy sources become more competitive as the month progresses instead of less.

Protected dumpers will retain their value but it becomes slightly more front loaded, as the gap between bots making full use of energy + speed buffs will shrink as the month progresses, and crescendo becomes more powerful. Youโ€™ll still want protected dumpers as it guarantees access to energy, and they will likely remain more powerful than traditional scoring but it would tighten the gap towards the end of the month and as the result (hopefully) the competition.

This all goes out the window when you consider dumpers using HA but this suggestion isnโ€™t about that.

I think this is a great idea. Changing crescendo for speed (whether it stacks or not) as then it helps us all rather than just the scorers.

I would like to mention crescendo being speed is instantly noticeable by new players, as most new players do not start scoring straight away, but they do fight/train.

That's a great point, although they do have the intro buff for the first 100 fights/trains.

Which only lasts 100 fights and the. After that nothing? It just makes more sense to have speed for everybody rather than crescendo for one group of people (scorers)
