Whore clans and dumper clans are completely different. Whore clans are easily beatable bots anyone can rape for energy, whereas dumper clans are full of typically good builds (such as level 80-100 answerers, 100 winding serpents, 115 castrators) that people can't rape, or rather don't want to due to the difficulties of it.

but what purpose do they serve?

to get you energy which ever way you choose

If you just want wins, just attack anything with a 0.0 to 0.10 ratio. My clan Zalbots Return is around your level and are easy enough. There's other easier bots with less hp though.

f-lax, the owner of the dumper clan then logs on each bot and attacks their main bot which is many levels higher, so even though teh dumper build is good for its level it loses to the owner's main bot and thus transfers the energy via losing battles to the main bot.

That's the dumping strategy: transfering energy from good bots (dumpers) to an higher level one (main scorer). It's less eficient than actively scoring but you always have energy to pass, while in actively scoring you will compete with others for the energy of the whores available, that are rare in higher levels...
