Someone took great pleasure in creating a user + bot with "my" name.

Can't see my self making a bot with any other name, so GL everyone and HF.

That sucks especially if it was intentional.

And that's where you're wrong Eric. Someone cared enough to make that bot. Just as mutch as you would care if someone beat you to your own nickname.

I could see ender intervening in this. (especially if it was like a level 1 or some sort.)

Obviously it would be a case to case basis if he did decided to do it.

I can't see why he would. If he wanted "his" username then he should have created it first.

If it was someone that intentionality created the name to prevent him from getting the name and have no intention of all playing that character, why wouldn't ender intervene if he felt it was right?

Hmm, I didn't know that the bot wasn't being used. That changes things a bit. But my point still stands. Why didn't the real TinTin create the bot first?

with a 1400 bot ID it was made a day or so after open beta was released. I would go with the argument that he didn't have time to. Plus, what if he was just waiting for live to make a bot but instead ender decided to just reset everyone to level 1. An unscrupulous player could decided to cheat tintin of his botname before tintin had knowledge that he needed to make a bot to reserve his name.

Open beta was open more than two weeks ago, and that bot is six days old. There was time.

Still doesn't address the complete wipe vs reset.

I actually will intervene on this.

I'm surprised it's taken this long for name-taking to happen (or at least be brought public). I thought about adding a note to the registration page saying that I'd act on it, but decided against it because I thought this might give people ideas.

As for knowing whether the alleged real Tintin is the real Tintin and whether the alleged fake Tintin is a fake Tintin: a good question, but in this case my tracking capabilities were sufficient to tell the difference beyond reasonable doubt.

And whoever was on this bot played the part really good. There are conversations with several people via bmail where the imposter plays the part to perfection, talking about every day happenings and what not.

Im guessing the plan was to be me, and somehow use it gain access somewhere down the road.
