Who's playing?

Hah, I came here to make this same thread. :) I honestly wasn't going to play because I thought the idea was kind of silly, but then I saw how much attention it was getting and had to give it a try. I actually like it a lot and have walked around a good few hours in the neighborhood. Up to level 7 now. Part of me still feels like it'll be much less popular within a couple weeks because there just doesn't seem like enough to do for a sustained period of time beyond entertaining some core dedicated group, but I'd be very happy to be proven wrong. Maybe I'll be like one of those people on the original iPhone launch discussion threads saying it probably won't catch on and that the fad will pass... |

I have to agree with Ender. There doesnt seem like there is enough to do to keep me interested for very long so I havent bothered spending much time on it yet. Still only level 2. I like the idea of an interactive pokemon mmo but this isn't that. Its more of an interactive pokemon solo adventure and I prefer the traditional games for that. |

I'd do it but I'm not clear about the micro transactions part yet. I wish it had none or had a paid option where you could just access everything in the game for free. But ya, I can see that most players will hit a wall that will either take too long to overcome or require you to pay to advance without walking yourself down a hole into China. |

Look at the hell you people have unleashed upon the world. LOOK AT IT. In other news, it's not out in Canada. Can't wait to go to various graveyards and national memorial sites to catch me some Weedles. Just kidding, I have no interest in the game. It's such a mess as it stands right now with privacy problems, servers, and an indefinite release date for lots of countries. But the good news is that its popularity got more Hollywood studios interested in Pokemon again. Btw, you will never catch them all. NEVER. Oh, and as a funny aside, as I told Rith, this game is like putting your imagination on a phone and adding paid DLC to it. Except with the odd chance of more death. |

It does have the potential to lead to more Darwin award nominees. |

It does have the potential to lead to more Darwin award nominees. Oddly enough this is all Ender's fault. As it turns out, John Hanke, chief executive of Niantic Labs, the software development company (and former Google property) responsible for PokΓΒ©mon Go, was inspired by one of Google's infamous April Fools' jokes. For April Fools' Day in 2014, Google created a "game" in which users looked on Google Maps for PokΓΒ©mon a la "I Spy" or "Where's Waldo." The PokΓΒ©mon simply appeared as icons on the classic map screen, the same way a restaurant or a hotel does. There was no actual interaction between user and character. To "catch" one of the creatures, you would just tap on it (the way you would to drop a pin or tap on a coffee shop's icon to read its hours and reviews). Yep, all his fault. |

And as predicted it has fallen in popularity from what I hear, not dead by any means though. Was cool that it was the top downloaded app. Should've had battling amongst other players. |

I am.. They make the same amount of updates as we see in this game, so it has become a bit boring... |
