I asked Ender to retrieve the values of the energy of the bot placed 10th every month and these are the graphics.

We can see 2013 was a very competitive year and in two months it was necessary over 1M energy to get top10. Good times :)

Then competition decreased, as everybody knows, until 2016 when it was super easy to get a top10 plat.

However, and that was my question, competition is increasing again and this year average is a bit higher than 2014, making it the 2nd most competitive year so far (the analysis misses the 3 last months of 2018).

Yes, bots was dying but it revived. Nice job :)

Cool chart!

I was wondering if the spike in 2013 was because of a different EPH system, but it looks like variable EPH went away at the end of October 2012, so that doesn't explain it. More competition sounds more likely.

And yeah, proclamations of the death of bots2/bots4 have been going since...2006 or 2007 or so. :)

there's more competition but also more cheaters. look at this month, last month and the past year at all these stupid scores around 3 mil

There's other (non-malicious) factors that cause scores to go up too. Over time there's more dumpers and energy whores built/available. Similar to ratio whores the efficiency of them increases as well from refining tactics, like everybody with blaster scorers building 130+ dreads for example. I'm not saying I think there's no cheaters, just that an increased ceiling of scores doesn't automatically equate to that.

whats the penalty for false accusations, based on absolutely nothing? Muting i guess?

just because some people are too dumb to play an easy game doesnt mean everyone else is cheating

Well if people have suspicions and keep them to themselves or simply bmail Ender saying they think something is up, it doesn't do the suspect any harm if they are a legitimate player. People who just slander somebodies name publicly without conclusive evidence is another story though..

true true.. just calling anyone than can make up to 3m a month a cheater is that same story too

Ender can you update those graphics? It would be cool to see if competition for top10 was still increasing during 2019

For the record, I don't think total energy between the top 10 bots indicates how competitive it was for top 10. A better indicator of that is how high (or low) the energy is at 10th place. And if you want to really refine that, check how many bots below 10th are relatively close to it, via percentage if you wanted to use an equation to chart it.

This stat is still interesting in it's own right though, so an update would be nice :)

total energy between the top 10 bots

That's incorrect. The graphics showed exactly what you suggest: the energy of the 10th bot.

Updated

It seems competition for top 10 plats is decreasing again.
