Form validation is always annoying, so don't make it worse than it needs to be. If someone leaves the subject empty, instead of a message, simply autoreplace with a "(no subject)" and send it. Done. The "You fucking idiot" was funny as an inside joke, but for new players there's no humour in it. floR's "Try this" buttons were funnier that way.
