^Jane^, the game's intrepid IRC bot, has a new feature. In addition to periodically stocking requested items in the showroom, she will now respond to "!find <name>" commands such as follows:

21:54:54 <@Ender> !find zion
21:54:55 <@^Jane^> zion: http://bots4.net/profile/458 [bot]
21:54:56 <@^Jane^> Zion: http://bots4.net/clans/profile/2724 [clan]

<name> can be an account username or clan name. Only exact matches are supported, so it's more of a lookup tool than a search tool.

A non specific search would be a spam fest tbh under certain searches..

I endorse the addition of a non-specific search function.

Not if there are timers set tryhard. For example if someone searched a clan !find eter <--- thats if someone cant spell btw. They simple put ni part of it and instead of actually spamming the channel it is sent as a private message to the user from jane. Also to reduce spam so jane doesnt flood out the timer will have a set time before jane can use seaerch again. Doesnt have to be that long of a timer but enough to stop from spam. And there also can be a trigger if smoeone does manage to spam jane boots them from the channel. Ive used several scripts based like that when watching over several channels in the past.

Wasnt saying my spelling was perfect. Was typing fast and on the tablet. Was just using that as a example. Even says that.

everytime you search something, jane could pm you with a link to http://bots4.net/hall-of-fame so you can search it yourself

With that logic, this shouldn't of been added.

I'm not a big fan of this feature, but it's useful to have if you want to talk to other people in IRC about different bots. Lately, there hasn't been much talk in chat since eternal lost this month. Given Ender's limited time for working on bots, I'd prefer a big content update over the lesser updates that don't involve actual gameplay.

Yeah, I'm not looking to get too deep into IRC bot features for now. Adding lookups took all of 15 minutes, but adding search would be more involved and would require thinking about how to handle a potentially larger amount of output.

For some reason I read Jane as Jans and thought, yes, if I search something, he would pm me with something. Like if I looked up "how to get a free rainbow unicorn" he would PM me a pic of a dildo or something.

Anyone want to help me "endorse" this feature?

Will donate to encase Jans in a room with a solitary pc only good enough to forum trawl, food window and chains.
