From my experiences in the new game only Balanced builds own the lower side of the scale.

I know a level 44 build that will tear you up. :D

I'm enjoying this early stage of the game. People actually fighting other peoples' bots, imagine that :)

In Bots2 i was never attacked. Ever. Everyone just mindlessly fought (well, 'fought') their own whored out bots. Btw, will this stupidity be continued or banished in Bots4?

I have no plans to stop whoring, but maybe I'll make it harder. I do have some longer term ideas that will hopefully give other angles (does this word even fit here?) for playing the game.

I remember the "real wars" that 12M did.
...it was a desperate stunt pulled by a dying clan.
And the few times that other real clans tried it, those clans became terribly inactive when those "real wars" took place.

Like it or not, people don't want "real wars" in this game.

I think people want Real Wars back.

If it were set up again, it must be set into drastic rules.

- If your clan leaves real wars in the middle of a month, the clan could get dismantled or cs loss
- You will be warred against all real wars contestants
- Only active clans would be in real wars so it prevents whore clans.
Simple things like an application, must be 2 month old clan, very active, positive ratio, certain amount of cs, etc.

I always liked scarab blades, conq axes, answerers, titanium katanas, and I had real fun with a cat o' nine tails bot a few times...

hi shadowfax - so are you saying you were able to go between those weapons on a single bot or several different bots?

several bots:

scarabs/titatiums = balanced
conq/axe = strength


If we're talking "low levels" as in 30-60, I feel like scarab blades (60 str 58 dex) are the best until 35ish then it switches over to more strength builds like gothic axes (115 str and 29 dex)and what not. Azure edges (70 str, 75 dex) are pretty nifty though, but it seems to me they get outclassed easily. Most of this is personal opinon, but I've had so much more fun playing balanced/dex bots then strength bots.

41-50 legends
51-60 blackrazors / adamizers
61-70 conq axes
71-80 equalizers
81-105 answerers
106-119 plasmas/theos/castrators
120-130 excals/evaps
131-145 souls
146-155 dooms
156-? larges

For pure leveling purposes, do people suggest balanced or str? Of all my bots i've leveled previously i've always gone down the strength route in order to bump the damage mitigation as quick as possible and hit the top armours asap. But depending on how severe a str:dex ratio i take, I find it's an incredibly long grind doing dex after that, with fairly large weapon gaps (say a 4:1ratio, then your next upgrade might be a 3:1 which takes a lot of dex pumping stuck with the same weaps) - assuming you don't want to continue with the 4:1path and have "unnecessary str"

With this in mind, especially at the start where most people will be training to level up, would balanced be a better alternative? The eventual shield for greater exp; less chance of hitting a plateau as happens with a 4:1str build in terms of huge weapon gaps once the kevlars are reached(lots of one stat to make up as opposed to continuing along the well defined weapon path). And at the higher levels, it seems that, at least in bots2, all bots regardless of how they started out would eventually converge to balanced stats, so why not start that way?

One question I have though as I have only really leveled cs-ers and tourny bots to ~150ish (via fighting as opposed to leveling), what sorts of con figures do balanced bots require in general vs the training bots? Pre-shields they'll have less mitigation and less "additional stats from armour" than a str bot of the same level.

This gets very complex.

2:1 -- Scarabs,blackrazors?,answerers,dazzlers,excals,etc.
Answerers have 54 base con at lvl 80 Im sure. Mabye 52. So around 65% is con. Dex is half of the str. Armours are not to bad.
3:1 -- Reinforced Mace, ettin axe,light blade,plasmas,blasters, etc.
Blasters at 130 have ~67 base con depending on your armor choice, I choose blackhades,shade helm,shade gloves, her feet. That is ~51% for con/level.
Dex is 1/3 of the str. Armors are pretty nice.
4:1 -- gothic axe, slasher, power maul.
Power Mauls at 145 have ~56 base con. That is ~39%. Dex is 1/4 of str. Armors are very good.


That is the best i can help you because I have only made one good dex bot.
It was lvl 130 or so, and it had thorn spikes. 160 str and 360 dex. With iron pelt and the best armors after that. It had ~65 base con. Which is 50%. And it hits a ton, and can take a good hit from a cser and the armors are little lame, but it makes up for it.

Thanks Alan, not quite what i was after mate as I've still got my good old spreadsheet with all my str builds still for tourny/csing, was more after balanced bots con figures with respect to leveling. Given the armours you were listing they sound more like cs builds rather than leveling builds, but appreciate the reply none the less.

Better yet, can the almighty himself flick a switch on my bot so i can start over and give it a shot?

balanced weapons with 450+ str and dex are not worth adding extra str after kevlars :)

I'll be sure to take that into consideration when it becomes applicable in 15years time! =)

Nevermind that previous idea - I'll have some fun with this bot in the meantime. A few redis points here and there and it should be a bit of fun.

And for the record that 15+ year remark was having a go at my own leveling speed, not at the development of the game. Figured i better clear that up after I re-read the statement :)
