2 ideas;

1 - Make the registering for the tournament like a buff popup, maybe a "7 days from now" and a "24 hours from now" popup. Then a "Tournament completed" if you signed up. Possibly even a big RED SIGN UP or something.

Granted, I don't have tourny bots but I do enjoy signing up and usually miss it. Heck, I even missed it happened 4 days ago.

1a - I think a forum announcement may be too much. It could be a legacy post, that Ed just comments in and that would bring it back to the top of the list? Nobody else could comment? It just seems the tournys come and go with nothing ever said.

2 - A list of bots that each clan had in the tournament. Like if you click on Lusitania and their 162 bots (Lol...), it just takes you to the normal clan profile. It'd be neat if it showed a list of those bots and their points they got/rank/category they were in. The list could even be broken up into each category for that clan.

3 - Random other thought, anyone else remember the HIGHEST LEVEL, MOST WINS, MOST CLANSCORE thing on the bots2 homepage? Those were cool.

I actually think tournaments should probably just not even have a fee.to register and there should be some option in settings or something that would enable bots to automatically opt-in.

But I kinda just don't care for the scene and it's not my bag - still, that's basically the only way I know that I'd, personally, bother at all...

Definitely know that I legit don't even know when these things happen though. Granted, my complete indifference helps a lot there. Still... feels my attitude does allow me with some authority to say that if the tournament scene wanted more casual folks to enroll more then it could do a better job bringing attention to itself, at the very least.

Wouldn't say no to a clan-level breakdown of performance. First thing anyone (that competes) does after a tournament is manually click into each category to try and spot where they placed in each. Not sure I would prioritize it though, its just the data we have available formatted slightly differently.

Maybe Ender could signpost it better and it'd make people interested, but at this point you have to basically have a perfect tourney bot, freaked and workshopped, to even have a chance of placing top 10. Not sure if it would encourage or demoralize someone if they got stomped every month. Even if say the level brackets were changed (a popular request), a standard players 148 (not freaked/workshopped) would still get stomped by all the perfect 140 tourney bots in the 139-148 category.

Just in case anyones still not sure, the tourney always runs on the 25th of the month at midday (game time)

And sign-ups start on the 20th at noon server time (top left corner)

Re: More visibility for tournament registration/results - I think this makes sense. I need to think more about how exactly to accomplish it though. Ideally it'd re-use an existing game mechanism (sidebar notification, bmail, trophy-like notification...but all of those strawman ideas have issues) rather than introduce something new. One related thing I've been thinking about is a "game calendar" showing upcoming "important" dates. As this list has grown (start of monthly clan race, end of monthly clan race, weekend buff schedule, tournament registration open, tournament happens) it could be helpful for the...mythical new player.

Re: Clan-specific view for tournaments - Makes sense too. The clan profile page should also probably have a tournament history table like it has for the monthly energy race. I added both of these to my backlog - to set expectations, they're somewhat lower priority.

Re: Dropping tournament entry fee - It's an interesting idea, but I want to think about tournament meta more holistically (e.g. ideas like new categories, evaluating the "spam hundreds of bots" meta, etc.) before committing to anything like this. And to set expectations on this too, tournaments generally are not an area of focus for me at the moment, but something I do want to eventually come around to.

How long has that been there? Hahahah
