Boring weapon once you reach the level they come in. If you are trying to pass through with int by attacking surrounding bots its by far the slowest time because any retard with answerers before you owns...

All the stars align at the level you can obtain answerers. Decent block, good hit and you get the next tier of armors(absorb + con out the butt). The weapons may have a tad too much damage on them but I believe it is these other factors that more heavily weigh on fight outcomes.

Of course they do? It's mostly immature people that built/maintain/vote on that website. Or for the laughs, there is many laughs.

On topic, Draoi's right, answerer builds owe a lot of their dominance to the armour upgrades at 190-240 str (manic, satans, trolls, raven). But that doesn't mean that answerers shouldn't be nerfed.

Anyway, I'd love to see some tinkering with weapon balances; even more than fixing answerers/other overpowered weapons I'd like to see dex/balance weapons get a boost. But I guess all that talk is irrelevant unless Ender considers it.

Answerers really do need to be looked at, but they aren't the only unbalanced weapons, equalizers and conquerers axe are also a bit overpowered. Makes it worse when they are all on the same build path

Meh everything has its pro and cons. I don't think they are op or any of the str weapons. My lower bot is a str bot with answerers(Taku-Happy)...

I definitely feel that a str bot is a bit easier, but I accredit that to the fact you get better armor quicker. Still can't decide if I like absorb or block better. Even though noone really beats my dex bot anymore.(go go block!)

If people can't see answerers being op they haven't played 70-85 as a non answerer bot properly.

I'm still using them because the next weapon I can get isat 100. I'm not the best bot builder in the world but I'm pretty sure you can't have them by 70. If its such a big deal throw on some int gear spend one day and level past the very small gap of which you mentioned. I mean that would seem the like easier way rather than nerfing a weapon.

If someone plays differently than you it doesn't make them wrong. There is no one way to play thats the beauty of bots.

answerers were always the weapon to have Ronnie. If you think back pretty much all the top rapists circa 2003 were on that build path. It was only when super easy whores were being used & pretty much any weapon could be used to beat them, that players forgot the supremacy of answerers :P

Well lets see. Yes answerers are OP, yes the conq-equal-answerer path is OP particuarly in the 65-95 level range which is what Champion means with the answerers bot Taku - I think anyway.

But its not the problem of answerers. Its the problem of STR and the level category it peaks at. If answerer path were a DEX weapon path not that much arguments would be put forth.. (too long fights, slow) because even if DEX were that superior to STR in a particular level category (which they are in a higher level category) no1 complains. Simply because the cons of DEX is so much and tedious that few players will build it.

But because answerers are a STR weapon path (fast fights) and peak in this particularly early level range(as the level ranges 65-95 are fairly early and yet still long as it spans 30 levels), it will result in a outcry such as this post and as in several past topics in bots2.

Anyways, I dont think that answerers are a problem for veterans as some of you pointed out due to:

1) Most veterans will be able to build/have an answerer bot in 1-3 days max. Thats just from pure trains if they really into it.

2) Most veterans with other plans will just bypass it quickly.

Newbs however will:

Have a crappy bot with INT + no rediss/too much INT vs Rediss/just have crappy stats overall AND their life span of playing bots peak around the level of 65-100, which is often the deciding levels whether they gonna continue playing or not.

You can call this peak the midlife crisis of bots. They come to the range where armor are very deciding factor, simply random armors wont cut it anymore (and we all know most newbs will not have patience for camping and just buy whatever they see), whereas earlier it probably wouldn't be a deciding factor as most veterans will be just buying whatever (INT armors particularly).

They are surrounded by perfect bots who are raping everyone for energy.

They come to the level range where leveling every few hours is not the norm anymore if they are just playing a few hours a day (and thus stay in the target range of energy raping bots longer).

Every category of STR DEX and BAL peak at certain level categories, such as scarab blades early on and answerers in the mid and dex/bal bots a bit later, but a peaking STR bot in the level range of the deciding factor for most newbs doesnt help..

Anyway just my thoughts.. you dont have to agree :P and changing it doesn't really help either imo. People have sucked it up since answerers existed I think they can live with it.

I have just been spoiled by S2 Games who bring out balance patches every week (I am not suggesting Ender could or would do this) and was wading through levels and levels on answerer bots at the time... Always seems to be the point of slowest leveling since at other stages I can farm at least SOME wins off of no-int bots with 45 int.

S2 the company that makes HoN and makes the game worse each patch? Odd that you consider that spoiling.

Anyway, as has been stated before, most of the issue lies with the armors at that level stage. +37 strength, +8 Dex, +19 Con, wtf.

Answerers themselves do stupid damage as well, but as been said, the issue lies with the armors. Though you can't nerf the armors because then Balance gets nerfed around the 115-150 range, so it's a touchy issue. And nerfing the weapons, well, that still makes the whole path strong because of the armors, and we can't nerf every weapon in that path because the armors are too strong now can we?

If all paths and weapons are perfectly balanced, there'd be no point in playing. Boring. It's ok if some build type has the upper hand in a range of levels, as long as it's counterbalanced by another type have the benefit before and after.

I should also clarify that by "answerers" in this thread I am referring to the typical "tourney" answerer build as a whole not just the weapon.

The problem is, strength builds always have the upper hand. You can go from answerers to plasmas, or to souls if you really want and later to blasters/dooms/etc. and dominate pretty much every tournament cat. I sound like a broken record, I know, but dex or balance should be best at at least some level range that isn't extremely low or high.

Since the dawn of bots, Answerers have been the weapon bitched about the most.

Its not a matter of weapons being overpowered. Its a matter of smart point spending ;)

Get better builds and you'll have no problems with answerers. :)

Or just get answerers and join the crowd

I think some people are missing the original point but never mind, I doubt anything will happen and I am out of answerer-ville now :)
