In case someone here doesn't know who Kurt Cobain is, I'll fill you in.

Kurt was the leader of the late 80's, early 90's rock band, Nirvana. When he was a child, he was happy until about the age of 9, where his parents had a gritty divorce. From this time to when he was about 17 or 18, he was switched around from his relatives' houses'. He had become withdrawn, antisocial, and depressed. He was sickened with macho-jock types of people that surrounded him at high-school, and he only really made friends with girls.

He dropped out of high-school two months before graduation, this move angered his family so much that they kicked him out. He was forced to live off of food from the hospitals and salvation army, and even occasionally slept under a bridge near his house.

Kurt had created many bands, and finally ended up with Nirvana...Who turned out to be a huge sucess in 1992.But that's not what this story is about.. ----

Kurt had been seeing Courtney Love around 1992, and he impregnated her. He was excited about being a father, and, though not really loving Courtney, braved commitment and married her.

Fast Forward about two years, April 8th, Kurt had been in a rehab center in Rome after an incident that happened (I'll explain). He left the rehab, and went missing for several days. Courtney had told people that he was suicidal and depressed, especially the last few weeks. She ordered an electrician to work on the alarm system in the Cobains' greenhouse outside of their home in Seattle. The electrician found the doors to be 'barricaded' with a stool. He saw the feet of a male on the ground. After some investigating, he recognized it as Kurts' body.

When the police department arrived, the scene depicted a suicide. Kurt had put the barrel of a shotgun in his mouth and fired, supposedly. A note was at the scene, and the police put the case to the side with now further investigating, stating that it was suicide. Here are the facts.

1. The door wasn't blocked by a stool.

2. Kurt had three times a lethal dosage of heroin in his body at the time of the autopsy, which would mean that he would have been incapacitated or dead as soon as it went into his system. He couldn't have picked up a shotgun and killed himself, let alone put the paraphernellia in a neat box to the side.

3. The gun had no fingerprints on it, Kurt had no gloves on...Hmmm.

4.Someone had tried using Kurts' credit card after he was pronounced dead.

5. The 'suicide' note didn't seem very suicidal... Most of it spoke of him leaving the music business, the fame and pressure was too much on him... The last four lines, however, read something like, 'I love you Courtney, please keep going, for Frances (their'daughter). I'll be at your' altar." But, handwriting experts have proved that these lines weren't in Kurts' handwriting.

This should be well enough for someone to realize that suicide was impossible..

now you understand...

American history books don't even list the vietnam and korean 'wars' as wars.

Technically, they are right because Congress never officially declared war. It gets classified as a military action or some sort.

[13 years, 251 days ago]

Well technacalities aside, you still lost, and its still called the vietnam WAR.

The Vietnam war started because American president Eissenhower did not want communism to spread throughout the world and eventually to America.

Vietnam had been a French colony (French Indo-China) before the World Wars, and the French weren't about to let go gracefully.

As noted by the poster above, the French lost control about the time the US was fighting Communism in Korea, in the 1950's. The country was partitioned into Communist North and Democratic South, with China was actively supporting the Communist government of the North.

The US saw Vietnam as Korea all over again, and feared that the entire Southeast of Asia would be lost to the Communist block, much as Eastern Europe had.

However, as Korea hadn't been a screaming sucess for the US, there was a great deal of reluctance to start up a new military action immediately after the armstice of the Korean War. Eisenhower's plan was to train and equip the South with military advisors, but over time, predictably, this led to active involvement with lots and lots of US troops.

But surprisingly, no actual declaration of war. It was a "police action".

The war(or police action) actually ended in April 1975 when the North Vietnamese took Saigon and the South Vietnamese government fell. The US part of the war ended with the truce in Jan. 1973. It took about 4 1/2 years to work out a settlement for the US to withdraw. American support personnel and embassy staff was in Vietnam until the very end until the North Vietnamese were taking over. There are dramatic pictures of helicopters getting American workers out and hundreds of South Vietnamese who worked for the Americans trying to scramble onto helicopters before the North Vietnamese got to them.

My family.
My friends.
The freedom and lifestyle I enjoy.
The "it'll be right" attitude.
The fact that we all live happily in a society that, for the most part, has no interest in the colour of anyone's skin or their religion etc.
The lack firearms in Australia.
The low crime rate compared to many other countries.
Anzac Day and what it means to me.
My health and the availability of world class health care.(unlike america lol)
The fact that I have access to a variety and abundance of good quality food and clean water.
Sense of humour - to be able to laugh at yourself.
Helping others less fortunate.

I in no way support the USA or like it as a country. But the fact is that Australias economy could be considered one state in the USA. I hate to admit it but all of Canadas economy could be comprised into the state of Texas. But our dollar changes a lot of things like trade what not you should be unhappy your dollar is higher then the Americans because it means there spending in your country will be substantially less. But that being said although they have a much more massive economy then the rest of us they also have a lot more debt from the people to the actual government.

Ok. Baseball is cricket for dummies. Basically you swing the bat as hard as you can and pray it connects. There's no defense/decision making, it's just hit and run. Basketball, eh I have to admit I hate the sport, regardless of the fact we also play it to some extent. I find it would be a fun game to play and all, but watching it is like watching grass grow. NFL is its own unique sport I'll grant you, but I don't believe that it is any better than any of the football codes we have in Australia. [insert argument about Americans and pads and helmets here]. Finally ice hockey, well it has similarities to soccer in that there are goals and players pass the ball/puck to each other, but much fewer countries play it.

Now would you kindly explain how American sport is better? :)

We are much smaller, smaller GDP and smaller population. Australia's economy is still booming however, whilst america's is shrinking, mainly because of War expenditure (and frightfully bad economic management over the last 8 years). Australia is in the fortunate position though to be geographically in Asia which means that we avoid a lot of the negative effects of the american economy, having stable trading plans with India and China for natural resources. At this point, Australia's boom is primarily due to resources, namely, selling Uranium, unfortunately this is a finite resource, so the party will have to end eventually.

So that, is the end of that. Both parties win. as to Level 100, dont even know the bloke. And Draoi, nascar is NOT a sport, its driving.

Sport entails physical exertion. Granted it requires SKILLS, but requiring skill alone doesn't make it a sport. im skilled(very skilled) at smokin da gunja, but that doesn't make smoking weed a sport, or being skilled at video games doesn't make playing video games a sport.

Football is a generic term that can be used for any sport involving the feet. In Australia we could use it to refer to rugby union/league, AFL and soccer. Gridiron or NFL is a more specific term, so we tend to refer to it as that.

Oh and with regards to collisions in the NFL, let's not forget you guys use padding and helmets. I'm pretty sure you'll find there are similar if not bigger collisions in rugby league (and to a lesser extent union), where the players have no protection but their jerseys. It's easy to run at someone full speed when you know you've got something to cushion the blow, it's another to do it knowing you'll be hurt.

Rugby league is tougher than NFL.

In comparing the g-forces involved, I believe NFL players do hit marginally harder (I have looked at a couple of articles pertaining to this topic) but this does not make up for $$$ worth of protection and as Pat said knowledge of this protection when making a hit. Whilst it is clear in my mind who wins that particular argument, feel free to continue debating, but you overlook one important thing; 80 minutes of continuous play in attack and defence. It really puts NFL to shame.
