Ender, I think the profanity filter is a little too strict.
I can understand filtering out racial slurs or comments about people sexual preferences, ect.
However, I do think swears and other kinds of profanity should be allowed.
Words like di&k, sh&t, fu&k, cu&t, ect.. (maybe not cu&t but I am kiwi and cu&t isn't always used negatively).
We are all adults playing the game and I don't think most of these are used excessively, regularly enough to be a problem.

Imma gonna just start calling everyone a "blueberry pooptart" since "blueberry f-tart" is no longer any good. It's fine. |

Done, I've relaxed the filter a bit. (For context, it was the 17 casual uses of various forms of the word "rape" in this thread that led me to add the filter. I know this is a holdover term from bots2, but I never wanted it to be a thing in bots4.) |

I'm the guilty one!!! |

Yeah, you definitely used it the most there. :P I didn't want to make a big deal out of it because I understand that with the bots2 history, it's not meant in the way it can come off, but I would still like us to move on from it in bots4. |

It's going to be difficult for a lot of people to stop using it as it's been in common use for the last 20 years (for me at least, and probably a few other players).

Yeah, I also understand the negative connotation of the word and the meaning behind not wanting to use, but agreed after using the word for 20+ years in the context of the game it's really difficult. We might want to move on from things but words grow and languages transform. Doesn't excuse them but to enforce this will only have results in the forums, not from being used. |
|
I'm trying to use other terms though. |

Only thing I disliked about it was that when I make my 1,000 word essays and I say the word sh*t it doesn't tell me where in my 1,000 word essay that nobody reads where it is so I had to ctrl/f it lol. Then I changed it to pooped on. Yeah, you haard me, POOPED ON. I'm a rebel toddler ;) |

Maybe a "safe space" forum is needed for all the softies |
|
I know we don't need another setting, but what if you could turn on "safe mode" or something? Or it was on by default. It put **** on words automatically if turned on. Doesn't matter to me, but that may be a better way to go for Ed's idea. |
