With the year soon drawing to a close I thought it could be a bit of fun to take a look back over the results of the most competitive year that the race for top spot in the bots clan race has seen in recent memory.
The rankings below were created using the formula one scoring system i.e. a first place finish in a month saw 25 points awarded. This analysis uses the results as of 29th December for the allocation of points in December - final results may differ slightly but for this exercise it's close enough :)
2024: Year in Review
The year started off with business as usual as Apex extended their seemingly unbreakable win streak. All "ftw attempts" from the newly founded Lusitanians were battered away and they were sent back to the drawing board; forced to continue their preparations. Apex's early year efforts culminated in setting a new all-time record monthly score (20.2m in April) & was achieved while having to contend with a "real-wars" onslaught from Lusitania.
In May, Apex rolled over and Lusitania steamrolled to an even better all-time record monthly score (22.2m); finally managing to see a new winner climb to the top of the clan race after 28 months.
Mid to late 2024 saw the two contending clans take turns in going "ftw" with no real competition for the monthly top spot. September & October saw some huge individual numbers being recorded (primarily by mara142 and his autoclicking shenanigans). During this time FloySage set the highest legit individual score for the year of 4.6m; even managing to outpace mara & his AC companion.
Things were shaken up in late November with mara142 being rightfully banished for his nefarious deeds. The final week of November turned into an all-out sprint to the finish line. Both clans threw all available resources into a classic battle - with everyone involved needing a good break from clicking after insane efforts which saw 2m+ energy being scored in each of the final days.
Lusitania were able to sneak the win in the end, but this win should also be marked with an asterisk because the actual all-time GOAT of scoring was afk on the month's final day.
By December, most of the old Apex guard were in retirement homes & Lusitania were able to close out the year with a 3 month win streak.

A genuine coin-flip for 1st place overall - with the outcome unfortunately being influenced by the mara142 autoclicking scandal. Since the results are distorted because of this, I thought a fair way to look at things is the total energy gained as part of the clan races over 2024.
Lusitania generated 125.8m with Apex at 115.1m. 13.2m of Lusitania's energy was on bots that were subsequently banned. Removing this amount would bring Lusitania's total down to 112.7m, seeing Apex go clear by 2.4m for the entire year.
A remarkably close finish in the clan ranks with some epic races and rivalries along the way.
