π New Competition β Low-Kudos Bot Build-Off! π
I figured I'd run a competition for the upcoming tournament (approx. 10 days from now), essentially you need to make the best bot possible for Category 16 (Level 50) without using items worth more than 100k kudos.
π§ Rules
- No items equipped or stashed worth more than 100k kudos
- Workshopping is allowed
- Freaking is limited - You may use 1 stash space only for freaking. The item you freak with must stay in that single stash space. No stars allowed at any point.
- No griefing other players - If you're caught griefing, youβll be disqualified
- Bot Auditing Required - Once your bot is created, send me the login details so I can audit it, if you don't do so before the tournament you'll be disqualified. - (Don't use your usual password!). If it's not immediately clear, you'll need to tell me how you got your stat setup while following the rules
- Any additional rules if someone does something against the spirit of the tournament
π― Goal
Enter your bot into the next level 50 tournament, and whoever places highest overall wins the competition!
Feel free to keep your bot totally secret from everyone (but me!) until tourney day π
π° Prize
ββ 2 Stars to the winner
Post here if you have questions, or feel free to botmail me. Letβs see who can make the most efficient low-budget monster.
Never entered the tournament? These rules have been made to be as friendly as possible to all types of players, you may as well give it a go, you might do better than you think!
Good luck!
Iβm on holiday for 2 weeks or I would have joined in sounds fun and different, gl all!
Cool idea! One thought:
Surely there will be people who enter their fully freaked lv 50s to the tournament as well. Would the winner of the 100k kudo budget build just be the bot who's the highest on the leaderboard whom you were able to verify, or how will that work?
"whoever places highest overall wins the competition!"
Yep ^ just need to place the highest among the bots that enter the competition, don't need to beat the usual freaked tourney winners
To be clear, the 100k limit is PER ITEM. Not a 100k total budget overall.
Does that 100k restriction include the item used to freak in your stash?
Yes, that also needs to cost 100k or less
Got mine. Probably will lose but hey it was fun! Just need to remember to sign up π
Can I enter more then one? Not sure what build to use lol
Sure, as long as they are meaningfully different builds, don't want everyone to have to make 10 clone bots each to have a chance, but if you want to try a couple diff builds feel free
Can we get a list of bots entered? Or maybe everyone has to join a clan?
I don't wanna do a list of bots entered yet just to keep a bit of mystery and make it less easy for people to grief, copy each others builds etc, but I was thinking about getting the bots to all join a clan just before the tournament. I should have access to them all a few minutes before for auditing, so may do that if I'm around at tourney start
There are at least 10 entrants so far, still time to join the fun everyone!
Why do we need the bots to be join a clan?
Would just be nice to see who is part of the competition at a glance
Tournament sign ups are now open! Don't forget to sign up.
As a reminder, you'll need to send me a bmail with your bots login details before the tournament so I can verify that you've abided by the rules. Send a Bots Unauthorized link if you have one so I don't have to work out how you got to your build.
I've made a clan that I'll stick all the bots in just so we can see who we're up against. Feel free to apply when you login to sign up to the tournament, but I'll only accept a few minutes beforehand.
If you've not made a bot yet, there's still plenty of time
I'm confused about this. So make a bot level it up to 50 and send the login details to you? and have the new bot join that clan yes?
If you'd like to enter my competition, sure!
The tournament runs once a month and all bots in a level bracket (in this case level 41-50) fight each other once and are ranked on results. The winners of this tournament normally do certain things to make their bots stronger like "freaking" or buying really expensive items.
Separate to the tournament, but using the results, I'm running a mini competition with extra rules. You must meet all the criteria in my original post and place the highest out of everyone competing, so I just need to log on the bot* to verify you abided by the rules before the tournament runs.
Every bot can still compete in the normal tournament though. If you don't fancy abiding by my rules, just sign up on the homepage and you'll have a shot!
*Don't make it a habit to share your passwords of course, this is just a one-off for a very specific scenario.

Thanks Fishwick for taking the initiative to organize this player-run competition. I think ideas like this are a good way to augment "official" game competition in a way where other players can organize and drive the entire effort. I'd be happy to setup a recurring (say, monthly) small fund of stars to give out as awards if someone wants to continue leading these kinds of events.
In the interest of not derailing this thread, please contact me privately with your thoughts if you're interested in helping lead this. Based on responses and level of interest, I'll decide whether to move forward with the idea.
Ummm... if people want to send me their passwords then I'll tell them if their bot is cool or not. Easy. Just send me those passwords!
Fish being a moderator, long term player, the trust should be high.
Throw an email on your bot, random password and enter. It's a level 50...
Fish... It's a level 50...
You lobbed that up so perfectly for me... and I just have to watch it hit the ground...
Just to be clear on the freaking in showroom, I can or can't on best in slot str gear to get weapons and then switch them out for gear that is under 100k each or I can only use one piece of str gear to get weapons and the rest has to be regular gear
You can only switch 1 piece of gear out for +str, and the piece you used should be in your stash. The rest of the armour that you're wearing while buying your weapons should stay on you if they gave stats boosts you relied on.
You can have 3 pieces of generic armour, and a steel grip on, buy your weapons, and then replace the steel grip (leave it in stash). But you can't buy a steel grip AND a face of horror that you replace to get your weapons on.

The results are in and the official* winner is ... Gpof on his bot Scabarabadoo.
Final results as follows:
- Scabarabadoo
- Corrupted Judge
- Peniswick
- GeorgeTourny2
- Law Rinse
- DumbAssTournamentBot
- PRICE CUTTER
- Player Seven
- GeorgeTourny
- AlanTourny
- MattFoley1
*One of my bots actually beat him so I can hold that over him even if I didn't technically enter
Cheers for entering gents, was fun! Admittedly a little less fun explaining the rules to people constantly...
Agreed with Ender, hopefully we can get a few more of these running in future if we can come up with some foolproof ideas
Aren't the top 3 all gpof bots? Smh
Love to see the build and how it got 13 wins fighting against freaked/workshopped tourny bots.
Good job. I'd say the next should be limited to one entry
Thanks for hosting Fishy, I'm a big fan of having varying constrictions like this to build around to make things feel a little more fresh. And yea, Scabadabaroo, Corrupted Judge, and Peniswick are the ones I did. Adamizer, darkling blade, and flameblade are the weapons I used.
It didn't get any wins fighting those bots. It lost to the top 9 bots. It got its wins from the rest of the crowd.
Nice job Gpof! Cool seeing you had a flameblade build. Let's definitely keep doing stuff like this!
So the only person I lost to is the person with a sim for builds? Well played sir
The idea behind multiple entries this time was just to let people try different builds. I made sure not to allow someone to submit basically the same build 3 times over, each had to be substantially different with different weapons (not just swapping a helmet). Have heard rumours that someone else wants to run the next, and they may limit it to just 1, and have multiple rewards so keep your eyes peeled!
Was interesting to see the builds, quite a few people went with the classic strength route but the 100k kudos restriction seemed to reward different builds as they couldn't afford their best armours. Belesa of mine was also an adamizer, and Correus (would have placed 3rd) was a pain blade build.
Technically 2 of my builds also beat you George and I didn't sim anything :p
No worries I'm not mad or anything. I've never built a tournament bot in my life and I messed up on both bots but it's all good. I atleast had the right idea with the second bot just missed buying some redis points. I probably used wrong armors too but that's a learning experience for me with her knowledge in this area of the game
Nah your build was pretty spot on if I recall correctly. It's really worth remembering these tournies are incredibly RNG dependant, you only get to fight each bot once so RNG will be the decider rather than any specific build being clearly the winner. It's not like Gpof could repeat that performance 3x in a row.
Will take the opportunity to remind everyone that if you enjoyed building for this, you might enjoy taking part in the normal tourney too. Little bit more hardcore but definitely doable.
I knew I'd lose, was still fun. Ready for the next!
The real winers are the ones that created original names. :D
Pat doesn't need more stars he has plenty cough cough
He doesn't actually own a whole lot.
Was fun trying; also went for a flameblade build, with a shield, but only found out in the end we could also redistribute, so mine seemed a bit handicapped as i just spent the ones i had in the end.
Never been a tourney builder, but was nice to be able to try one.
