What's the point of the storm star (87str 49 dex 15-45dmg) when you can buy the boneblade (77str 45 dex 15-45 dmg)

i've noticed a few of these, particularly along the strength paths. like holy sword? 137 str 57 dex 30-90? then hydra edge 142 str 62 dex 31-62

Those weapons may not actually be that useless. Sometimes you cant afford/find the better weapon. So it's better to have some new weapon than none.

they were awesome for whoring, less damage for same stat requirement :D
