Is there a point where it gives diminishing returns?

If so how do I calc that?

assuming the formulas are the same as bots2 they are:

([Target's Level]*(1+(5*([Target's Level]-[Your Level]))/[Your Level])*[Damage Inflicted]*[INT]*[Target's Ratio])/[Variable]*[BlockMod]* [DiploMod]

[Training Bot Level]*[Damage Inflicted]*[INT]/[Variable]/2*[ExpMod]* [BlockMod]

If you double your int, you will double your xp.

If you have 50 int, you will gain a 2% boost when you add a point to int.

If you have 200 int, you will gain a 0.5% boost when you add a point to int.

What So strnog said.

There's no soft cap or anything where adding more points is much less effective than before. Each additional point is less effective than the previous point though, if that makes sense.

All true, but i don't think it's a correct answer to the question. Dragonrose asked if the Int-formula has diminishing returns. The answer is no. XP is a straightforward linear formula

2 int gives twice as much xp than 1 int
20 int gives twice as much xp than 10 int
200 int gives 10 times more xp than 20 int

No diminishing returns, every extra point in int gives as much extra xp as the one before.

Not technically true mr jans.
A level 100 bot against the 180trainer gets lets say 500k exp. with 45 int.

You add 4 int at lvl 101. You wouldn't gain a linear amount for the 4 int, it would actually diminish from the linear because the level gap is lower.

Doesn't matter Alan, there's no level gap in the equation.

Yea, levels are involved, and wins, and losses, and your momma's birthday. But in the end, its still multiplied by your amount of int, right?

If you're lvl 101, and you have 10 int, you'd gain *half as much* as you would have gotten with 20 int. Or am i missing something? o_O

Ceterus paribus of course. I dont care what happens when you get more wins or gain a level, that's irrelevant, this is purely about int, and what happens when you add to it.

([Target's Level]-[Your Level])/[Your Level]

Level 100 : (180-100)/100) = .8
Level 101 : (180-101)/101) = .78

So, the lower you can beat the trainer, the more exp you get.

Let me make a graph or something of all of this.

Yes, Alan, that's the level modifier. That has exactly fuck all to do with this ;)

Alright. Didn't know we were only talking about training formula.

Here.

Try that out. Level 100, 10-100int. Shows the exp and difference.

The column with difference is deceitful though. It suggests diminishing returns, while it's a clearly linear scale.

If you make $50 a day, and you get a 50$ raise, that's 100% increase!
If you get another $50, that's suddenly only 50% increase. Oh noes?

Those two raises are each worth 50 bucks though! Percentages have nothing to do with this. Here's an actual example of diminishing returns from wikipedofiles;

"Suppose that 1 kilogram of seed applied to a plot of land of a fixed size produces 1 ton of crop. You might expect that an additional kilogram of seed would produce an additional ton of output. However, if there are diminishing marginal returns, that additional kilogram will produce less than one additional ton of crop"

THAT is diminishing results. For each +1 you put in, you get less +result, under the same circumstances.

Back to Bots: an additional point to int DOES produce as much extra XP as the previous point did. So NO diminishing returns.

Ok. So no difference in each point.

But, a level bot can't have 200 int to get a billion exp and still beat the 180 trainer. That's what I'm getting at too.

Its like a square root function he was talking about.

sqrt(1) = 1
sqrt(4) = 2
sqrt(9) = 3
sqrt(16) = 4
sqrt(25) = 5

So it is a graph that gains a lot of x values before gaining any whole y values.

No it's not over my head. But I guess answering a simple question, which is indeed what I posed does not enable you to prove your vast intellect ...

If I'm asking if cox's or braeburn apples are better & someone replies navel oranges I am rightly confused. That's in effect exactly what you did.

Sir, where the fuck am i going to use algebra when i leave school? How will it help me say, get a job or generally just help me? he didn't know what to say.. because algebra is completly useless

Alan I've tried and tried but I can't see how your points relate to what was asked. Yes if you take into account all of the other aspects that you mentioned then it relates. But if I have 19 int and want to add 1 int or 2 int, like Jans said I'm going to get the same bonus for each point into int. It's not like the 2nd point is going to give me 50% of what the 1st point gave me.

oVeywhatever did you go to that link i posted? It shows a chart of the int. Then if you read my post after that, it says something like "It is a linear formula".

That's not what the point was. That 50% was of the original amount (19 in this case).

I know its linear equation, but if I have 4 points available and want to add them to int, individually each one gives me the same amount of bonus. Together in the equation you get the linear result. That was my point.

Sorry I am not going to just swallow being patronised by an insecure kid who's trying to show off. You may be surprised to know that I studied both pure & applied maths, however in my 25 years of working since I have never had to resolve a quadratic equation nor have I been required to proove pi. So I simply no longer retain such superfluous information.

That's not to say I never understood the initial reply to my post. I also understand that % wise each added point of int gives less benefit. That however was not my question. Jans answered it beautifully & I thank him for that.

K.I.S.S.
