echo "Your {$item->name} " . (substr($item->name, -1, 1) == "s" ? "are" : "is") . " trashed and cannot be repaired any further"; Could work :P |

Only with some exceptions :D Same applies to plural items which don't end with "s" ^^ |

+1 for thinking outside the box and suggesting to just restructure the sentence. I'd read this at work and had been thinking of ways of dealing with the possible exceptions that might arise from simply checking the last character for "s", whether each item would have to have a flag for its plurality if that didn't work, etc. Over-engineering ftl. Anyway, this is fixed now. |

Thanks wiggin :) & although your use of cannot instead of can not slightly irks me I get past it by reading it in a Joy Turner accent ;) |

Actually, "could not" would fit better, wouldn't it? |

No because it tries to repair it each time. Not a one time deal and it remembers to not repair it anymore. Can't is present, so it shows that it needs to be repair now. -Alan |

This is completely incorrect, so yeah. The "repairs" comes after the battle has already ended, thus making the repairs at the end which results in it being past perfect tense. Go look that up then come back in here and post. |
