this is kind of a spin off of what someone said in my critical thread.
i felt it deserved its own thread.

now instead of what (and im sorry i dont know the sn) the other guy said you could give experience skill or advancement to certain weapon classes.
such as:
axes
halberds
swords
knives
blunt objects
hand to hand
shields
so on and so forth

ender already said he liked the idea. what does everyone else think or does anyone have anything to add or take away?

Don´t know how useful hand to hand would be. Scratching Infant with your fist a couple of times perhaps.

True. But you shouldn´t be able to fist someone at higher lvls just because you´re "good" at it.

It would be good if you were able to fight with your fists though, in bots2 you could get "stuck" if your weapons broke and you didn't have any money.

But I like this idea of lvling your weaponskills. I just wonder how useful a hand-to.hand skill would be.
Coming up with some new unarmed weapons would be required to make it intresting.

Err, just for the record I haven't said anything about this idea. Here's what I said about Jans' idea of gaining experience with weapons, which I think is what Gess is referring to.

"I like the idea of gaining experience with weapons and will keep it in mind for the future. Alternative methods of advancement are always good in my book."

That being said, I do like this idea, but it wouldn't be coming for awhile.

Understood tENDERizer!

for this to really work properly each bot would have to have a set of known weapon classes as above and every weapon would have to be an object of that class so if someone changes there weapon class all the experience earned for that kind of weapon wouldnt be lost
(let me know if your following this)
example:

weapon classes 'each class contains a seperate level from the bot'
clsAxe = 9 12,000 xp to level 10
clsSword = 27 56,567 xp to level 28
clsSpear = 18 25,500 xp to level 19

a weapon type/class would gain experience through use in battle just like your bot does. also once you have enough xp your knowledge of that type of weapon increases (in numerical level form ex: lvl 18)
i hope this gives people a better idea on the subject! cant wait to see your replies.

I don't like the idea of leveling up weapons.

i think we all need to take a min and think about what we are doing.. all these features are gonna make this game a bit complicated.. im with alan maybe weapon levelin isnt such a good idea

like stated before by some player (sorry didnt feel like searching who said it) this game should b about having fun and not be causing stress and tension.. could you imagine..

(future) hmmm.. i hav legend blade at 62% and is stronger than atomic blade but this atomic blade can be stronger but i would have to start again at 25% n work my way up dang what should i do bla bla bla (example)

idk i jus see it causin problems

not individual weapons!!!!

swords 62%
legend blade
colossus sword
short sword
dagger

axes 25%
bearded axe
silver edged axe
blood mallet

anything that falls under swords has a 62%
efficiency
anything that falls under axes has a 25%
efficiency

get it now?!?!?!

Training your bot in a weapon class makes more sense than individual weapons i guess. But there should be enough classes then. Shields would be a class as well btw.

i cant believe it your the first one to get it jans!!! thank god someone did. this would be the only logical way to give progress through the use of your weapons!
