A handy part of floR's forum was the new post indicator & the ability to reset that. I found it invaluable for tracking what I'd read.

I'd sure like some such tool again :)

One of my favorite tools too! This is added now. Your forum status will be reset when you logout and you can also do so manually whenever you want at the top of the forum index.

And if you were especially anal in bots2 like me, you would manually reset your forum status and then check the timestamps on the last posts of all the subforums to make sure you didn't miss something in between the time you'd last loaded the forum index and when you just reset it. This won't be necessary in bots4 because manually resetting now resets it to the time the forum index was loaded, as opposed to the time you click on the reset link. Hope that makes sense.

I've yet to have that "keep posts made in between time I loaded forum index and time I clicked reset link marked new" feature come in use yet. :)

Anyone else?

Ender, when you reset you click a link that looks something like:

http://bots4.net/forum/reset/1234567890

Will it mark all posts after 1234567890 as new, or will it also include 1234567890? (just wondering what would happen if someone made a post the same second, but after you went to the index to click reset).

Who is more anal? Emanuel? Or is Ender still undefeated? Stay tuned!

It will include 1234567890. I think we both win. :)

Just happened to me! Spamboy Intsecuris posted in between the time i clicked 'forum' and 'reset' - which couldn't have been more than half a second ;)

This has actually become useful for me because of the way I read the forum.

I first go the forum index and then open all the subforums with new posts in new tabs. Then in each of those tabs, I open each thread with new posts in additional new tabs. After reading/replying to them all, I go back to the forum index tab (whose reset timestamp was however long ago I began) and reset. If there are still new post, I rinse/repeat until there are none.

More than you ever wanted to know about how I read the forum...

You can also tell not much has happened in the forum when Ender's status is:

"online for 15 minutes, idle for 14 minutes [reading the forum]"

:)

If you mean me about being a spelling nazi, I only do it when I win the fight.

Plus, I've been at work for the last 8 hours.
