so i was attacking somebody this morning who had 600 points and i just carried on with attack him and 3 mins later didnt realise i was gaining anymore energy
so i was wondering if there is anything ender can do that tells you how much energy there was to take from the person you are attacking

if you dont notice 'but no energy is exchanged' for three minutes, what makes you think you'll notice '0 energy remaining'?
That's why I think there should be an alarm.
Try to play on 5 bots at once and You won't see "no energy exchanged" notice because of small windows. But red notification about energy left would do the trick.
so its more about the placement of the notification then if you dont see the message because of small window
notification shouldn't be as long as it is now too :p

I might work on a energy remaining. It's kinda hard though since I don't know how to store information. The array that holds the battle does not have how much energy they have left. It holds how much is gained/lost.
is there a way to scrape how much energy they have when you click attack on the fight list?
possibly put it into the url manually. I'll see what I can come up with.
That might not be accurate. You'd have to take into account the turn of the hour, (which is easy) and the fact that other people may have attacked the bot, or the bot itself may have been active (not easy). I think a script that would create noticeable change in the fight links if the "but no energy was exchanged" phrase was detected, would suffice, for all practical matters.
It would change the urls on the fly, so they would be as updated as you are.
Yes I would like to add this. Something at the top of the battle that shows info about the participants including level, wins, losses, energy, etc.
bump!
this would still be handy :)

When I added the new logo (about a month ago), I played around with the header a bit to see if I could make room for a second HUD for another bot (your target). It ended up being more work than I expected though and I wanted to spend the time to do it right, so I held off. I plan to come back to the header soonish though and will try to incorporate this then.
