In regards to what's being discussed here: http://bots4.net/forum/8/590
I was thinking; some people just like to hang out in a clan with buddies. Or, after 4 months of hard competition, like to have a break from it all.

Currently that means your bot will be under constant attack, especially if it's not in optimum condition. Some won't mind, but others won't like it, causing them to leave their clans.

How about an 'opt out' setting for clans? When activated, members don't generate energy anymore. Consequently, they can't collect any energy either.

In short:
- A clan can opt out & in at any time
- Total-energy is kept / monthly-energy is reset to 0

Would this cause any problems? As in, could it be abused?

Only problem I can see with this is that you can just opt out when someone starts taking your energy, sabotaging both yourself and your attacker, and thus, helping all the other clans.

Yea, it does mean less targets for people to fight. But that's fine i think. Energy can be scarce.

I think maybe a limit of 1 opt out per week per bot, but being able to opt back into the clan at anytime

I definitely wouldn't want to make it a setting per bot... It goes for the clan as a whole.

Actually.. it could be abused.

- opt in with your secondary clan
- attack enemy at 1.0 ratio, stealing their energy
- opt out > flush energy so they cant steal it back
- rinse and repeat

obviously the opt out feature would need a month cooldown.

Yea, that would work, but then it seems too complicated and too much work, for little gain.

Leave us out of this. Not our fault we are a bunch of inactive, inadequate old fucks.

how about setting the opting in/out in advance? if enabled, it will opt in/out your clan starting in the 1st day of next month. and have a cool down of 1 month.

ie.
March 21: Clan A enabled opt out for next month.
March 21 - end of month: gaining energy and stealing is still doable
April 1 at exactly the start of the day: Opt out instruction activated.
April 1 - end of month: energy functions disabled
April 21: Opt in option is available to set again.

if enabled at the first day (first nano-second) of the month, it will activate in the next month.

I think taxes also applies here. dunno though if it will help up lessening the kudos roaming around.

im not sure though if it makes sense. just stating my opinion.
