I don't expect any significant changes... but that might be really simple...
Just seems the activity and engagement that it was useful for is a past thing.
Now, it seems a purely punishing mechanic.
And, honestly, I think it better if any dead clans would remain in the pool to not make the targets potentially even smaller.
Similarly, assuming energy was supposed to promote more "real warring" and less whoring - the game should probably let you fight down about 10% of your level, imo. But c'est la vie - probably better for me the way it all is now, tbh.

But.. then I would be out of work! xD JK, agree with you.

With that face and that tongue?
No worry, honey, I got another job for you...
|
I dont like this idea personally.
All that would happen is clans will make as many bots as possible just to sit in clan and never so anything knock more of the smaller competitive clans out of the race
|
What would your clan know about "the race?"
Look at my clan - it's currently 4th right now, I think.
And that's with two people barely doing anything at all.
What clan are you even talking about?
|
The point still remains: I could EASILY get a clan to 3rd place with 19 inactives and just this bot to score.
I'm looking at it RIGHT NOW.
Top 2 are top 2.
Third is anyone's for the taking - with not a single other clan trying for it.
There is no "race" here...
|
Whether or not there is no race the fact that idle clans are there in the first place says we should keep the tax so atleast the idle bastards still have to do something every once in awhile
|
I just don't think you're really punishing anyone active at all (very small annoyance is all)... and any "punishing" of inactives is actually at a cost to those that are active.
Basically, a small quality of life game improvement, more than anything, for active player base... and would help ensure those fight targets aren't a sea of clanless, non-energy and inactive bots.
Just... looking a little less like a ghost town and ensuring it doesn't look even more ridiculously like a ghost town is value.
But... maybe Rapture WOULD get 15th instead of 12th or whatever - while not a single person got ANY energy whatsoever... that's very true.
There really is an argument that a whore clan that was doing SOMETHING probably would deserve a higher spot than Rapture's LITERAL NOTHING that it's done for the month though, imo.

Something something death and taxes...
Clan tax serves a few purposes, so I don't plan on removing it:
- Prunes out inactive clans.
- Creates value for high-level bots that can fill the treasury.
- Creates a soft cap for clan size with the way taxes double at certain thresholds.
- bots2 nostalgia!
That said, there are a couple aspects of clan tax that I plan to eventually revisit:
- Make it much more visible when a clan is going to be disbanded from not paying taxes. I know it's happened at least a couple times where a major clan is in a lull and forgets to pay taxes for awhile, then gets deleted, which is IMO too a brutal punishment. There should be more warning.
- Maaaybe revisit the current tournament meta where a bajillion bots get stuffed into a clan for the day of the tournament to avoid the tax hit. There are a lot of options here and I'm not committed to necessarily even changing the meta, just acknowledging that the tax situation does contribute to the current strategy.
help ensure those fight targets aren't a sea of clanless, non-energy and inactive bots
This is a fair point, though I'd want to address it other ways (fight list filtering, PvE energy (just spitballing on that one), etc.).
(Administrivia: I deleted a few posts that were getting off-topic/antagonistic.)

If you're for the pruning out of inactive clans still, I very much concede any finer points are probably rather insignificant to the conversation.
I'm just... not sure that's even worthwhile now and if you get to THAT point... I think it makes a lot of sense...
But, figured it was a long shot idea. All gravy.
