Instead of the captcha where you have to write the word down, I think it would be better if we had the ones where you have to click the open circle amongst other closed circles. A bit more fun and quicker and more visually appealing.

If not, at least change the captchas to something else. They annoy me to hell. Any suggestions?

I don't support this. The captchas are there to stop autoclickers.

There is an online game called ImmortalNight, which has a mildly appealing anti-script system. It's kind of like captcha. Basically, it's a 9-digit keypad, and each time it renders an image with a number (1-9) and you have to click on the correct number. I don't know if this paints a nice picture, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Also, what you have to remember is that this game doesn't have a massive budget like other games.. The recaptcha system is cheap and effective.

I don't mean get rid of it completely, just to use something different. I mean, why not? We're still in beta after all.

Like Voxy said, it's effective. Why fix what's not broken? If Ender plans on changing it, then it will be changed. We'll just have to wait and see.

It should be changed.

If other systems are just as effective at stopping acing, makes it easier for the player & doesn't put wiggin out of pocket then ye, change it. As the current system is kinda annoying :P

I'm totally against recaptcha, I find it very annoying.
What about "image with circles", I like it actually, seen it in another online game. It's simple, nice and pretty easy (for human) to click the right circle and continue playing, dunno about AC's abilities to get through it...

Ah yes agree with finding a better solution to Captcha, it is effective, just not very user friendly. It's annoying because Bots is mainly a clicking game (minus the forum/post/chat). So when you're watching a movie and have to pause the film to squint and attempt type out the illegible characters, it's a bit tedious. If there was a keypad or graphic instance where we can click than type - it would be great to implement that if possible ^^

That's why it only happens every so often. What you guys have to remember is if it's made easy people will find a way to break it and there will be more and more cheaters in the game to make it un-fun for those who don't. If there were to be a new one in place you want to make it the same effectiveness or more.

I will probably be switching to this:

http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/asirra/

I like this because it doesn't involve the keyboard, which as Hotcocoa points out, interrupts the natural flow of a primarily clicking-based game.

i've been looking for image based / clicking captchas too, but i didnt like asirra very much. It's slow, you have to hover over every pic because they're tiny, and it's very easy to misclick and hit 'adopt me', which takes you to another website..

This one is better looking;
http://www.confidenttechnologies.com/products/confident-captcha

But it depends on how big their image database is, and whether its updated regularly.

And this one seems to work too;

Oh nvm, the one from Confident seems broken.

It told me to select all of the cat pictures, then it told me I was a bot. I support this.

I also support this one. Fast and most likely effective (y)

I'm in support of any change that Isn't captcha. It bothers the hell out of me because it uses symbols in it that aren't on the keyboard, one example is the lambda ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lambda ) plus many times it's too illegible for my apparently auto-clicker eyes lol.

Just so we're all talking about the same thing, the term "captcha" is a generic acronym. You probably meant recaptcha or text-based captchas in general.

I've seen many greek symbols, as well as a lot of arabic. It's very annoying, lol.

Just don't type the word if you can't do it, it'll work anyway.

>Just don't type the word

But that's not the point, it's not that we can't type the word, it's that those unreadable words shouldn't have come up at all. And they're incredibly annoying.
