I was the one that posted this. I agree with Jans a game needs to be managed, Eventually people will drop off and lose intrest in the game. He hasn't been seen in the last 27 days When was the last time Ender implemented something interesting?

As good as it was of him to create the game for us all, this is absolutely ridiculous.

Busy or not it cant take ten minutes to log on and move a couple of stars or add a logo, updates I can understand as they take time to add.

If you had just donated to get 10 stars nos and wanted a logo, then had to wait a month im sure you would be pretty pissed.

In the beginning of 2014 Ender did some things in the game and he seemed motivated like it was one of his resolutions for 2014. However, he had to deal with lots of cheating and from then on he lost his gasp. I understand him, he put lot of effort in this game and people ruin it by cheating.

27 days is hardly an issue. It's a good long time, but nothing major. Also, adding new content isn't going to breathe that much new life into this game, if any. The basic concept is still the basic concept and people liking that or not is the issue with us getting new players.

This attitude upsets me, as I am sure it does Ender as well. If you don't want to play then don't. No one is forcing you. I think this attitude only steme from Ender's ambitions towards the beginning and the lack of floR's towards the end. We got our game back, and to me that in the end is all that matters. Anything Ender does from that point is just icing on the cake.

It's a donation. It does not grant you the right to expect updates or give you the privilege of knowing what Ender (or the game designer of any game who uses this kind of donation method) is doing. That, I think, is all of you all's problems. You think just because you gave money to him he some how owes you an explanation. He doesn't, so get over yourself.

Most games don't even give you the ability to contact the game developer personally. You contact an anonymous email and hope you hear back.

we need to/too appreciate what ender has done. there are two kinds of players though, some waiting for new things and some happy with the way it is. Im happy without tournaments or any major updates so ofc im not worried about ender doing aything. I b-mailed ender a long time ago now about transferring a star for a new logo and it wont bother me if it takes another 27 days. I understand some people are wanting updates and star transfers quickly but a public thread is disrespectful.

Cheating can' be any excuse for him too use, yes it may have demotivated him but that happen over 6 months ago. I know we all know what "soon" really means but Enders Soon is some bollocks about WoW

It does suck that there are no updates, but as Nos said, donations are donations and we have no real right to demand updates as this has always been a hobby for Ender, not a job. I certainly wouldn't want to spend my free time developing a game that probably 100 people play.

Well More than 100 people was seen yesterday, Ok it's a hobby of his but im not having he doesn't generate anything from this "hobby" of his. Perhaps he can put it on some websites to see if he can get more people playing this game

That's not my attitude, but I sure wouldn't want to develope for a videogame where the only attitude from the players is "What can you do for ME?" or "What have you done for ME lately?" and not a single bit of gratitude for the things that have been done, only disrespect for the things he hasn't done.

He recreated this game, when mind you no one else stepped up and did, and did it within a relatively short amount of time so that the people who really enjoyed playing Bots2 wouldn't be left with no avenue at all. He didn't have to, but he did. And now he has to deal with ass holes like you who only want more and more, and ass holes like Tintin and Alan who only cheat and try to exploit his game.

Would you want to do anything if that's the kind of people you had to deal with? I know I wouldn't.

But i'm sure he would rather see the game thrive. But it's a lot for just one guy to run, maintain, let alone expand a game - next to a life, job, etc.

But realistically speaking; in the current state, this game only appeals to former Bots2 players. The design would need a major overhaul, followed by a lot of promotion, to attract new players. And this would mean a lot of time and effort. Too much for one person i think.

There are options though. Plenty of creative people on Deviantart who could create a cool new skin. And if you don't have time or the desire to program stuff yourself; this is the internet, cheap labour is available everywhere.

The money from donations could serve this purpose. More donations = more development = yay

Hey all, sorry I've been absent the past few weeks. I've been serving grand jury duty daily (my 4 week term ends Monday, yay) and I have a new role at work, so that combination has prevented me from making my (usually) daily rounds on here.

As for the specific concerns raised in this thread, let me split them into two:

1. Donating and then having to wait awhile for your logo or to perm stars sucks. It'd be fairly low effort for me to implement self-service options for these, so I'm going to prioritize that to make this problem go away.

2. Outsourcing development of the game to a rent-a-coder site...eh. I sympathize with you all wanting more frequent updates to the game, but I honestly don't think I could stomach that. This is my hobby and I'm rather particular about the codebase, so I feel pretty strongly against opening it up to an outsider. I know that's not a great answer, but take resolve in the fact that I'm still very much interested in growing/marketing this game. I still have lots of grand plans. :)

I don't want anything fancy. I really like the old classic look. I hope I'm not alone, but I think perhaps a skin option could/would be a nice way to go with pleasing the multitude of different preferences out there?

I'm starting to think that passing an IQ test might be a good idea for the game. Actually we could replace all captcha with it too. All Ender would have to do is make every signup/login/captcha into the simple question "How many fingers am I holding up?" and if you guess right within 1-2 fingers you can continue.

Because bots4 is essentially the answer to "can I play a game while high/drunk?"

I think captcha should be grammar/spelling correction questions.
