I don't literally expect an answer, but what are the odds of causing the exact same damage, two hits in a row using a weapon with a broad damage range ?
I'm using answerers, and I just won a fight in two hits, both at 458 damage.
As simple as it seems, surely that's very rare.

Should be 1/103 since there are 103 different potential rolls that can arise (102-204).
|
I understand the odds of getting any of the damage amounts is 1/103 initially, but wouldn't the odds of getting the same number twice in a row be multiplied by a shitload ?
My maths is rusty though, excuse me if I make no sense.

Nah cause it doesn't matter what your first roll is. You can roll 102 and the odds of rolling a 102 again is 1/103. If you wanted to roll a 102 twice initially, then yeah it would be 1/103^2, whatever that is :p
|
1/10609? seriously?
did you include the odds of not getting any other roll in that? Yeah odds are messed up like that.

This is true, have to account for a miss or being blocked as well
|
That sounds more like what I was getting at hahah ;D
|
This is true, have to account for a miss or being blocked as well No you dont, because hes just looking at the odds of 2 hits being exactly the dame damage. Not 2 random attempts with possible hits and blocks.
also to one of the guys who gave an answerer, the odds are not 1/103 but whatever his damage range is. Damage is calculated trough the damage range after the str modifier, not before.
|
Depends on your opponents armour as well. If you fight me your damage range may be 50-100. So the chance of 2 hits being the same will be 1/51.
