Just finished updating my phone from froyo to gingerbread but now my contacts list has been reduced from bit over 100 to 5 lol... Woulda been nice if the auto update thing warned me... In closing, Fuck.

I tried to explain this to my sister-in-law. Told her she should go online and add them to her Google account before updated her phone because if they're not saved to your Google account(either you transferred them over from another phone or you added them on your phone but didn't select "Google contact")then they wont repopulate when you finish updating and reboot your phone. |

What kind of an update deletes your contacts? This doesn't sound right and I don't understand why the onus of backup/restoration (still don't understand why this step is necessary in the first place) is being passed onto the user. |

It's bad enough they're deleted, but it's unforfuckinggivable the user isnt warned about this at any stage.. Or are they? |

There's no reason for it to delete it, unless you rooted it and flashed a ROM, in which it whipes all the data and that's your own fault. |

Not rooted lol and it was the phones native updater... No warning given about the contacts. Atrix 4G btw. |
