Most of the time i dont bother to go shift-i, but i see you natives do it pretty consistently. Made me wonder why 'I' is spelled with a capital in the first place :) (yes, jfgi)

*spelt

The letter I is capitalized in a sentence when it is used as a word to refer to the person writing. Proper (personal) names of people, places, and things are capitalized in English grammar. The word "I" is a personal pronoun; its function is to take the place of the name of the person doing the writing. Thus, the capitalization.

The letter I is capitalized in a sentence when it is used as a word to refer to the person writing.

That suggests a condition, but it's always capitalized, right? o_O Also, why doesn't it apply to You, Him, etc?

The thing is that there's not actually any concrete record of why it's capitalized. The reason given above is quite a good one, but as you said it doesn't apply to other words used in the same way.

tl;dr: I is capitalized because it is.

English isn't the only strange one out. German capitalizes every Noun in a Sentence :)

Also, seems spelled and spelt are both accepted.

Also, 2000th post. Ha!

Regular verbs > irregular verbs. Britlish has far too many of those as it is.

In the US of fucking A it's ok. Outside, you'd better speak proper English. People might actually listen.
