Jans is always correcting my English, and I thought I would make my own thread to ask questions. Sometimes I find my self wanting to write a certain sentence, but I always end up finding other words because I'm not sure how it's spelled.

So if you could please help me out here..

Is it loser or looser?

Is it beeing or being?

I always write the first word in both cases.

Loser refers to someone who lost.

Looser refers to something that has been stretched and is hence loose.

Being is correct.

Don't get me wrong Jans, I do appreciate it.

Is it successful ? That's a word I always tend to skip in a sentence. I use "good" or something like that.

If it weren't for spellcheck, i'd make loads more mistakes..

Successful is correct. Double c, double s.

beeing is also correct, it means someone is acting like a bee

that cant be right, cause then fucking would be if someone would act as a fuck :P

but then again, beeing might be used to describe the sound bees do, couldnt it?

Trolling is how I fish on a lake, beeing is not acting like a bee, acting as a bee is known as "acting like a bee".

trolling=troll is a fallacy perpetuated by the internet, the term only exists as a made up word on the net, way to learn grammar from 12 year olds :P if beeing became a phenom or a meme then you would beecome correct, as language evolves to accept certain popular things and change what is "official" according to popular opinion. Your opinion is not popular, therefore you are wrong.

It annoys the hell out of me when I am in line for a sub or something and hear people refer to lettuce as "salad".

Ex: I would like ham, cheese, pickles and salad on my sub

Just sayin..

I guess I can join in the grouching here.

I hate it when people say tex-ted instead of just plain texted.

Also drown-ded instead of drowned annoys me.

TinTin check out this BBC site it covers a lot of common errors.

I still ALWAYS get practice & practise wrong :|

Not quite on the same subject but it's annoying when people think that being ignorant is ignoring people i.e. a phone call or a text.

If you use google chrome it has a built in spelling corrector. Might save you from a few of your mistakes.

Sometimes i hate english so much..

Could, would, should. Mould...

Weight, freight. Height...

Taught, caught, daughter. Laughter...

I hate things about Dutch too btw, but there's little point in sharing them with yous :)
