Free bjs for everyone!

But no I have no idea. He'll just probably work on the game in his free time and not worry about D3. No idea if he'll play it either.

I will eventually get D3, I'm not sure if I want to dive full in and let myself get carried away or stay in my current reserved state because I am prgressing very well so far in this game :) Maybe once the levels get so long I'll pick the game up, the price may have fallen by then, and immerse myself, maybe middle of the summer? Who knows.

I'd suspect the price of the game won't drop til this time next year.

Christmas, and such.

I got big into bots2 while playing EverQuest (and later WoW) since it sort of lent itself nicely as a side distraction because there was a lot of downtime. Not sure if bots4 + D3 would be as good a mesh though if D3 is anything like the hack-n-slash frenzy that D2 was.

I used to have three, sold one for cheap. In the place there is 4 now. only my two would be capable, and my first HP I think would overheat, it needs cleaning.

Ender competes by bringing down the D3 servers.

Heh, that gave me a funny idea - hardcore mode for bots4. Permadeath from training doesn't sound too fun, but permadeath from fighting could potentially be interesting.

Expanding on that idea a bit, it might fit in nicely with the "alternative tournaments" idea I've been kicking around. A daylong interactive tournament where everyone has one life. Each win gets you one point and the bot in each category with the most points wins. There'd obviously be whoring with that though, so maybe it could be made more interesting (read: not have to create whores to win) by making the loser's points transfer to the winner. That way even if you whore lots of wins onto your main bot, it creates a king of the hill effect and you make yourself a bigger target. This could result in interesting strategies like waiting until the end of the tournament to make your move.

Obviously this would be separate from regular gameplay, which would not be affected. I think little mini-events like this are the way to go in the long-run for making the game more interesting. There'll always be the core monthly energy/cs race, but it could be augmented by regular special events to help break up the monotony.

Possibly you could do a system where you could enter a bot a few days to a week before hand. With this system, you could create a series of checks for each 'range' that you specify so players could only enter one bot into each range. Such checks could be email, past logins, similar names. Also, I would not release what these checks are. You are a smart computer programmer guy, I'm sure you know tricks that most do not. ;)

Anyway, once you are entered there will be a specified day where you will have a sort of battle royal where you can choose your opponent(s) that entered. From here, say you have 3 'lives' or 'points' or whatever you want to call them. Maybe 'charges' to go with the energy theme.

Obviously there has to be something in place where players that log in right away don't have the advantage. (Maybe not advantage, but the fun of attacking and getting 'charges') So, say you can take someone down to 1 'charge' of 3. Once they log in, they can attack someone and lose, they are 1 and done. Otherwise they could keep going.

Possibly have a system where players that have attacked and gained/lost points already can be brought down to zero 'charges'

Sounds pretty fun/interesting.

I could cover most, but not all of the ways people try to circumvent multi-login restrictions. There would inevitably be some that get by though and this would require manual policing, so I think it's better to just try to design the system in a way that takes multi-ing into account and nullifies it. I think transferring wins/points from loser to winner would handle that pretty solidly.

I like the idea of not being able to lose your last life as a defender unless you've already engaged as an attacker. That way you're guaranteed to be able to initiate at least one attack; logging on during the tournament to find you've already lost wouldn't be fun. We could work out exactly how many lives/charges you start with.

i like these ideas ender it would be fun in all honesty id enjoy this anyway as it means somebody 50 levels can win the tourney due to 1 lucky win and taking all the points at the end of the tourney

I am not sure how it does handle it solidly...

Possibly if there was something where you cannot change your gear when you are in this tournament. That would stop people from entering good bots, changing gear, then losing. Such as you at the time you enter, a screenshot of your bot is taken and that is the build you will be using in it.

The only way to circumvent this is be online right when it starts to quickly lose those points to yourself.

Players would be able to enter lots of crappy bots to get easy wins on their main, but there are two issues with this:

  1. Anyone can attack these crappy bots, so they have to act quickly.
  2. (What I was alluding to) Anyone could attack the main and potentially take all their points.

The only problem I see with this is that people with workshop freaked bots will obviously win. 40 extra points is pretty huge, especially if they showroom freak before workshop freaking.

Do you not think that's what is going to happen when actual tournaments are implemented? Showroom/Workshop freaked bots will come out all over the place specifically for tournaments.
