Holy shit, the original creator of Elite (huh?) is going to release a new game, based on the same concept.

For those born (much) later than me; the original Elite was a breakthrough. I've spent countless hours trading, stealing, chasing fugitives and being chased myself. I reached status 'Deadly' (starting from 'Mostly harmless') but sadly i never reached Elite.

This is mid 80's, mind you. The average computer game was a boring platform game like donkey kong. Elite had whole galaxies to explore.. And 3D graphics (sorta). And it ran on my C64 on 37kb RAM.

And now there's a new game coming.

They're raising money on kickstarter. I'm in!

I too saw this story earlier today.

I had the C64 version of the game but it was hit & miss as to whether the game loaded. So I never really played it very much :P

I fucking hated cassettes! Half hour wait for the game to load only for it to all too often fail :|

It seems pretty good for that time. Some graphics remembered me a football manager game called Elifoot. I dont know if anyone played but it was very popular in Portugal.

Yay :) I actually tried Elite on an emulator awhile ago and I gotta say, playing with arrows is a bitch and super annoying. It's much more suited for joystick or a gamepad I think. Or maybe I just need more skill.

I like the idea of a new one though =D
