Welcome to another game promotion bots4 players! This time it's for a fairly new text-based MMO based on the great Runescape game MMORPG! Its name is Artus Empire and you can register and start playing the beta version right now by going to http://artusempire.com/login.php . The game offers many things to do for a game still in its beta stages including PvP, PvE, a market/craft driven economy and a skill system where you, the player, make all of the items you need to slay monsters, other players or sell on the market for coins! There are many updates in store for the future including the following just this month:
Post Office
Achievements
Arena being updated like Train Combat.
Spells up to 60
Magic/Range clothes via a new skill
Two of those things, spells up to 60 (actually up to level 78) and magic/range clothes have already been added! There are tons of more things to come including a unique guild system, staffs/wands and bows/crossbows, and bosses along with many more things! So if you're bored or just want to check it out, go log on now :)

Horribly use interface and even worst layout for the site.
Original but overall disappointing. 3/10
|
Why is there not a lateral scroll bar when the window size isn't wide enough?
|
The page is set at 1200px wide. I had the scroll bar turned off, but I turned it back on.
|
mystic and leather armor can be made by bronze bars?
|
Welcome back to the bug finding madness Mith :)
|
To spice up competition a little bit, I'm introducing the Rith Challenge.
The first person to pass ShadowRith in Combat Level, will receive 500,000 coins. For each month that ShadowRith can stay on top, he will receive 100,000 coins.
I hope this gives people incentive to keep playing :D
Thanks.

Let's play another game. I call it the guessing game. How many games is Alan going to create before he gets one that is actually entertaining?
|
I'll give it to you Nos, I have made quite a few. Each being better than the last.
This one has a completely different concept and has lots to do.
|
You know that in order for your games to have success you have to actually invest in them. Not make a game, give up on when people quit playing, and then make a new one, rinse and repeat....Stick to one, build it, develop it(I know this is a foreign concept to you) and actually grow it.
|
There is probably 100+ hours into this game.
You are trying to put me down, it's not going to work this time Nos.
|
No Nos is right Alan. I don't care how many hours you say you put into a code, but telling from your layout and past games it's easy to see you reuse code and don't start from scratch. But what you should honestly do is start at the basics and not go so complicated to start.
Like here start with a simple version of a game.
Clans - Size is 6
Have an option to clan fight once a day which will be a 6vs6 fight you can make the formula yourself.
3 Stats no weapons
AD Def HP
Make the fighting script have simple options
Attack - Fight to the Death - Run
Attack - one attack each
Fight to the death - does it automatically all the way to the end
Run - Flee
You can pvp or train...but make it so people have to accept the fight/only fight online people to make your scripting a little more challenging
Simple there you go. Try something ooober simple like that to work on layout and functionality, instead of putting "100's of hours" into a game that you will eventually scrap.
|
i played it a little - i was entertained, but its rough, very rough still
|
FTP, I appreciate the "ideas", but those aren't for this game. I do have a new guild idea that I'm going to put in during January hopefully.
The reuse code thing, I did copy some database functions over from another site, but other than that, It's all new stuff.
|
I wasn't talking about transforming that one, I was talking about start all over. No copying, no pasting....From scratch.
@Shoe - You appreciate what he's try to do but don't baby him. It's still shit and I doubt alan will be able to make it more then that.
|
Thanks for the support Chris. :)

@Shoe, the only useful contributor the past 7 posts:
Yes, it's very rough. I'm trying to help make an interesting endgame and guild system along with pushing Alan to fix stuff all the time. It's why it's still in beta though, it's far from complete. If Alan was me I'd have spent tons of hours doing graphics work, fixing bugs and trying to get a ton of stuff to do for the public before I released the beta stage. But I don't know how to code or do graphics very well. Alan is a bit too much like Ender in many ways, mostly in the way of how he makes a system and tries it out on us guinea pigs and sees if we don't start on fire. Lots of that could be done before it reaches the public, but you learn from mistakes.
@FTP: Your version sounds like a worse version of bots4. If you automate the battles, then it's exactly the same except you have to gain hp after. That clan system is pointless until there is more variety of people in the game. And there's the problem of levels. Would be unfair to have 6 40s against 6 20s for example. 3 stats would make it easier than 1980s MUDs.
@Nos: Hurry up and go make your own fucking game so we don't have to listen to you and your hatred of everything every programmer does ever unless it benefits you and nobody else.
|
@ Zal - My suggestion wasn't for a long term game but Alan sucks at the basics, and doesn't know how to focus. He is trying to make a accountant before making a calculator. He has no idea why he is doing what he is doing and needs to start with lower programs and games before working up to something so complex.
|
Chris, I don't appreciate the hostility. Please bmail me with further concerns.
|
FTP does have a point, but if Alan wants to start out with something complex there's nothing wrong with that. If it fails and he's prepared to take a fall, then he can only gain experience from it. The willingness of players to try updated or newer games made by Alan is another story, but I'm sure he's aware of that.
|
I understand I have given up on quite a few games. I really like this game. It's different and I like it.
I appreciate everyone's time that they have taken to even give it a shot.
|
@Nos: Hurry up and go make your own fucking game so we don't have to listen to you and your hatred of everything every programmer does ever unless it benefits you and nobody else.
Oh get the fuck off your high horse.
I was simply explaining to Alan the reason for his failure. He tries to do too much, when all he needs to do is focus. He spreads himself thin, does entirely too much, and it fails, then rather than try to fix it he scraps it and tries to start over. It eventually turns into the "Boy who cried wolf" where as he keeps telling us NEW GAME, we quit bothering even to try it because we keep getting burnt.
On a completely unrelated topic, go fuck yourself.
|
First off the hostility isnt needed. And alan, nothing meant with what I'am about to say. Maybe he has given up in the past and bailed on plenty of things. Who gives two shit's? sometimes it takes project after project to find a grove. How do you think a lot of programs are? There's been plenty of games that have been dropped by a creator to make a new one. Don't put someone up to the stakes to burn just because of past actions. There's a reason a game is called beta testing and thats what this is. I know for fact anytime I have found a issue it didn't matter what alan was doing; id message him on facebook and it gets to his phone and out of no where he is online fixing it. If you actually try the game and see the difference and see the actual dedication he is putting into this game; might make you all think different. And keep in mind ( besides the advice he asks for and thoughts) HE IS THE ONLY ONE WORKING ON THE CODING so cut him some god damn slack. At least he is trying. I don't see anyone else doing so.

People are fickle rith. If you burn them consistently they eventually go somewhere else. Game design companies, as is your example, if they keep releasing buggy software/games people eventually quit buying the shit they release. Everything is like that.
|
and some times those companies come out of no where with something amazing.
|
@Rithy - Nos is absolutely right, you get a company that releases shit all the time they will fail. Now you get a company who start small does 1 small idea right and works there way up as the understand more concepts and learn to better utilize there time better then those succeed. Alan wants to contend with larger more complex games right off the bat. When he should work with a simple idea, then expand on it.
|
went to give the game a try and cant log in. sad panda.
|
You really need to get yourself a front-end guy, the games pretty solid and seems interesting but it just looks horrendous
|
the game just needs little tweaks here and there as far as the leveling and concept of some skills go, Alan knows this as I have brought up the " real life " idea. Over all the game runs smooth and its just like Runescape but without the scammers and real time pking.
|
Not even close, I don't know why you guys are trying to save Alan, sugar coating and being nice isn't helping him.
|
You haven't played more than 3 minutes on the game and haven't logged in for 4 days FTP.
Your argument is invalid.
|
Haven't played because it was so simple to see it was shit already.
|
FTP, i have been playing runescape since 2002. I have been playing alans game for a few days now and the only down side is no visual graphics like runescape. other than that its just some basics that he needs fixing. it beats having to bank every 5 mins, dealing with lag, scammers, etc. sure i do like the human interactions of trading and team pking/ questing but alans game really isnt that bad.
|
i quite like this game. sure it looks rough, but the actual gameplay is quite engaging :)
|
Bump. Game is back!

Oh God not another distraction for Rith :P
Have fun though Alan.
|
Thanks Zal!
Hope to see you again...
