if i look at other tab in browser, the fight doesnt advance, is that whats supposed to happen?

example: i have 20 seconds to end a fight, then spend 1 minute surfing web on other tab, when i click back to fight, its 19 seconds and counting down.

i had this problem when i used internet explorer but when i switched to using safari it stopped happening.
