I was on a break since the end of open beta and now I see that there is a new feature called "achievements". This is a nice idea of getting medals, but getting dozens of them for only playing this game is senseless and those unfitting brown messages looks like advertisements in free hosted websites that you a re forced to turn off. My bot's profile is flooded with this crap too -.-
It would be cool if you get one medal for reaching 100, 200, .../ ratio and it would automatically update to a nicer medal. Maybe for reaching a top 50, and a medal would say "TOP50"(www.aim400kg.ru has medals system, lots to learn there) Maximum of 5-10 medals on profile that represents different categories. Cus now all I want to do when I see my profile is to search for "spam" button like in yahoo and dismiss all trash... But where's the button 0_o

tbh, i dont like them clogging up my profile either. It'd be nice if they would be hidden and only shown by request. Some sliding section or something.

Why show them at all :D Seriously: "Trained 10 times!" "bought a weapon!" lol, avoiding a medal is much harder than getting it :D

Well the bronze ones are meant to be easy. It's also a way for new players to see what's possible.

You will get to a point within the month where you wont get an achievement for about a week at a time so, I wouldn't worry about it clogging up your profile.
I always saw them as an encouragement for new comers. It's nice to see you are so obviously doing things right when you first start out in a game since there's not exactly a ten minute long tutorial like a playstation game.
The only time achievements popping up would be potentially annoying is if I was making my 20th bot and so was seeing it for the 20th time, even so though, I'm sure I would be able to muster up the energy to click on them as they show up - I mean, it's not like any of the players of this game have a problem with clicking am I right? :P

I agree the presentation on the profile page could be improved quite a bit, but I don't have any plans on reducing the number of available achievements.
My intention is for platinums to be the true measure of a bot's long-term accomplishments, with the lower grades just being for fun/flavor/points. Maybe I'll change it to only show the platinums, with a way to get at the others for those that want to dig in.

Well, getting tons of medals isn't fun at all. But making quest system would look better - you could see the list of all those achievements in blank colour and after accomplishing them they would change to white... You would get medals only for something that is hard to do e.g bronze medal for getting 5.0 ratio, then if you reach higher your medal would be sent to some kind of your hall of fame and in that place a new, a bit different looking medal would be shown instead, showing your rank in that category. And best medals would be with a rank number in center and only top 50 players would get it... Well it is just a basic look, but this would extremely reduce medals amount and make them valuable.

you don't understand. gaining achievements is fun. it gives me something to work towards. agreed, some of the bronze ones are lame.. BUT, there is no point just having big massive achi's. cater to the Hardcore and n00bs alike, if you will.

You people bitch and moan about everything. I used to do the same thing myself until I saw the light. The light is that Ender took a DEAD game and revived it. He made a lot of improvements on the game(whether we like all of them or not) and he doesn't present a sour and negative attitude to people that criticize his work. (Not like the previous owner did.) He always presents a pleasant attitude in the way he deals with people.
So you don't like the medals??? Grow up and get over it. Just don't look at it if you don't like it. Ender says it might be improved upon but not now because there are other more important things to work on. Just be grateful that the game is back and that someone that cares is operating it. Stop bitching about every stupid little thing. Or at the least present a better reason why it is hurting the game............ Go figure.

I agree Jans let's be friendly and I also agree that he did make his point. However imo his "opinion" is a complaint and it doesn't offer anything constructive as far as Enders work on bots goes.
He seems to want a different game then what bots is intended to be. Again, imo "quests" don't belong in bots. Just training, leveling, getting energy, getting your clan to number one and of course bitching in the forums...
Thats what bots is all about. Thats my opinion.
