Would it be cheating to create a script that redirects me back to the fight page if the target I'm attacking runs out of energy? So I can make windows small + not have to worry about raping a bot that ran out of energy 10 minutes ago.
Discussion welcome, but I'm looking for an answer off Ender.

Fishy. Wiggin defines cheating here
Specifically:
As for defining cheating, I'd say anything that allows you to do things in the game without you being at the computer falls under that umbrella, at a minimum. Obviously it's a difficult task to precisely state what is and what is not allowed, so we'll have to see what loopholes this wording allows as we go forward and address things on a case-by-case basis. I think in general though most people know right from wrong...and if in doubt, ask first.
So I'd hazard a guess that as your script would auto direct you back to the fight screen then that would be considered cheating.
But you've absolutely done the right thing by posting & asking for a definitive answer from wiggin.

i cant see why this would be classed as a cheat in my opinion as its not like its clicking for him it just takes him to fight page so he can choose another bot to attack
but as stated just my opinion
|
i wouldn't consider this cheating, as it doesn't generate score without you clicking. It's an added convenience, nothing more. Same as the hotkeys script and the energy-left script.
|
I'm leaning towards not cheating at the minute, because it would still require clicking the right link, and wouldn't actually play the game for me.
Will make it public if its acceptable + I do make it (though it is probably just going to be an edited version of Clay Banger's script)
|
Umm, I'd say it's cheating. It allows you to walk away the last fight and it redirects you back to the fight page.
Not my place, just saying.
|
There is only 1 way for the script to be triggered, when the page that fishwick manually loads via clicking a link and draining the target's energy to 0. (Requirement of person being at the computer is satisfied) The script would not trigger if he is away from the computer because the target would not be drained and even if someone else drains the target and the target has 0 energy, the page that fishwick is on wouldn't show the updated energy total unless he manually clicks fight again
|
Hey Shoy, I know how it works. I'm 99% sure Ed will say No.
|
The script's trigger requires you to be there. The script completes before you can get out of your chair. The only exception would be if you had terrible ping and the page would lag so long that you could leave your chair and a fight page would load slowly.
Anything that automates gameplay in such a way that you could walk away from your computer and continue playing where a normal player could not.
I don't consider loading a fight page as continuing to play where a normal player could not. In addition, if the script is shared among all the players, there is no unreasonable unfair advantage. I would consider it similar to one of emanuel's scripts
Anything that gives you an unreasonably unfair advantage over other players.
And I don't understand why you think I'm talking to you specifically Alan.

No, either I worded it wrong or you understood wrong.
I don't want an automatic redirect, which would, in my opinion be cheating. I want to replace the next "real" fight again link, with a href to the fight list instead
|
Actually, on second thoughts, finding the "real" fight again link might be a pain, and finding a way to do that would be a little shady. I'd just replace all links on a page with a href to the fight list (once opponent energy is 0)
|
In that case it's definitely not cheating.
But wouldn't that be a little confusing? As the back-to-fight-list link is always there anyway? You might still look for the fight-again link, before realizing the target is done.
Why not make the background color of the window bright red after energy is down to 0? That's a clear indication you can't miss :)
|
Plan was to just change the href target (not change the text or anything on the link itself), so in essence, I wouldn't even know it's ran out of energy, I would just appear on the fight list.
Although yeah, pretty much anyway of telling the user could be used like a bg change. I'll wait for a definite answer off Ender though I feel like it isn't cheating
|
Replacing all 3 links with a new set would be very convenient:
No more energy!
fight list
showroom
|
Actually, the showroom link is only handy in case of dumping, and then the 'opponents' energy doesnt run out, but you get what i mean :) Script could also be triggered by the rape limit, or 'no energy was exchanged'.
|
I think Shoy had a different but neat idea in mind if I read what he was trying to get across correctly. The energy, wins, etc already update before the fight ends. So a script that went back to the fight list the instant you clicked fight again on the final fight could work too.
|
Thought you meant auto-redirect. Neverminds.
|
I interpreted what Fishy said the same way as you Alan.
|
|
It would genuinely be amusing actually, I imagine if someone was using an AC of some sort with this kind of script being put back onto the fight page would cause a good amount of confusion for it.
I like the idea, I'm forever not concentrating 100% and doing an extra fight or two that I really don't need to be :s
I wouldn't consider it cheating either, it's not automated - its just a convenience tool much the same as an average exp thing that lets you know which train bot would be better xph by giving you the figures, it's still up to you to look at the figures and do the work yourself.
|
do we get a word from ender on this? if it's legit will you share?
this'd be really convenient
|
we might get a word off him if google retracts its claws xD
i would definitely +1 this idea, i'm forever fighting after energy is gone xD question is could you do it for dumping too ??
|
I think the game would ideally have something built-in to provide this sort of useful signal to players, so I'm okay with it as long as it's shared in the public list of extensions so all are free to use it and benefit from it. Thanks for asking!
