I've been thinking, if the energy system is here to stay, maybe it would be best for clans to be ranked according to energy gained/lost during the month and not by their total energy.

Pros:
- Will encourage more activity. Having a bot sitting in a clan generating 480 energy per day gives zero benefit to clan ranking.
- Will allow for smaller but more active clans to compete with larger clans. i.e. Inactive bots wont help carry larger clans.
- Will make clan management more interesting. Bots that are being raped and losing energy would contribute negatively to a clan. So the other clanmates will have to help the player to make his bot better. People will also be wary of which bots they accept into their clans.
- End of months will be more fun. With a bunch of negatively contributing bots in a clan, you can kick bots to boost ranking in the last few minutes just like in bots2.

Cons:
- Can't think of any. Maybe someone could sneak a bot into an opposing clan in the last few hours of a month and have everyone rape it. This is pro though? :)

People shouldn't just accept anybody if they want to win. Pointless argument.

Ah, i see why you suggested it; your one-man-clan would jump from 25th to 7th ;)

@Roman; the old game was very unwelcoming to new players. That should be avoided this time.

Exactly. He should be 5th because he has worked the hardest. Not just have lazy bots getting energy. In fact, my clan would be first if this was implemented.

Unwelcoming because they couldn't keep up with the power that a vet could output.
When they proved themselves, they are accepted. New players can't just be "good" automatically because they are n00bs. That is highly unfair to the people who have worked hard for what they have. Otherwise n00bs would run the game.

I see your point, but energy is energy, whether it's generated or collected.

It is generated to be collected.

Indeed, and its your job to defend it. Holding on to your energy takes work too.

Just because you can defend yourself and "keep" your energy doesn't mean you should win. People who can take others energy means they should be first.

Look this month.
My clan has +1000 more energy than rDogs have. Yet, they are still 6k ahead because they had 20 members the first day while my clan had 6-14. We have worked harder and yet we still are second? You can call us n00bs since we have only been out for 4 days. Shouldn't you cater to the new guys?

There are points for and against new players.

Like you said Jans, players with weak bots wont be accepted easily into established clans. New players who show promise with activity will definitely get many invites though as has always been the case.

A benefit for new players will be that they can move up the rankings much faster. Say a bunch of friends start playing this game and make a clan with 5 bots. At the moment hey will to have to put in a lot of time just to place anywhere in the top 30 due to all the dormant clans with 20 players getting 9600 free energy a day. These players will be forced to join larger clans to compete.

not sure if anyone has noticed.. clans to be ranked according to energy gained/lost during the month and not by their total energy. they are? here, an example..

8 <Ascendance> Rivan [86] 8.42 2,437,028(total energy) 42,652(+13,212)(the monthly energy)

now, if we were going off total energy score Ascendance would just be first by moot point.

and if its also the other thing you could mean, and here it is, 42,652(+13,212) is the monthly score, so you want it to be 13,212 WITHOUT the 29,440 extra that people have just gained by sitting around?

Defending your energy takes a decent build, which took time to make. Idle bots still took time to make and/or recruit. If you want things to be fair, fill your clan roster.

I don't think it really matters whether clan ranking is based on energy gained or total monthly energy. If there are duds who are gaining 0 energy for a top clan, then I'm sure they'll be kicked, regardless of ranking method, to make way for an active player given that the max clan size is 20. The only time this might not be the case is midway through the month when some idle players have picked up several k energy by idling. But tbh, it takes less than a day to make that much energy, so it's not really a big factor.

Really, then why do so many sports, video game, war, and almost every other type of real life strategy get ahead and then go into DEFENSE MODE

You shouldn't be able to win because you are in defense mode.

Why not just eliminate clans all together? Make it a one against the world free for all? When you create a bot then you are automatically at war with everyone else.

That way the best, the most active, the best defender and simply the best bot or bots player will win. That way everybody will be happy because it doesn't slant the competition towards any one group of players. If one guy wins all the time then whats the difference because one clan seems to win all the time in the clan system.

No matter how many people are in a clan or how much energy they have the same group of people will always win because thats the way the bots formulas work and its the way the bots formula will always work.

Write in a formula that will level the playing field by penalizing a player for raping easy low level bots and reward a bot for being able to beat tough bots.

You want real wars then do something like that because any other way will always be a popularity contest between the guys that can manage to gather all of their active friends in to one clan. Rapture and 12 Monkeys may be named something different here but they in essance will be the same old same old no matter how many members are in a clan or how much energy can be gained. New guys will never be able to win...

Try to disput that but you know its true...

Shouldn't you cater to the new guys?

I disagree, you shouldn't cater specifically to new players/groups. Neither should you cater specifically to older/established clans, there should be a fair mix of catering going down.

Just because you can defend yourself and "keep" your energy doesn't mean you should win. People who can take others energy means they should be first.

This I also disagree with, I think the ability to defend yourself should be a key factor in any victory. Take and hold.
